Backed by James Sedwards of Nought (guitar), Deb Googe of My Bloody Valentine (bass) and Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth (drums), the album radiates with both his signature thrashing electric guitars as well as blissful 12-string acoustic ballads.

Bought this last night.
After being underwhelmed by Thurston's post-SY records to date (even Ranaldo's haven't been as essential as I'd hoped), this is refreshingly solid.
Any fans of mid-00s Sonic Youth would find this very enjoyable, I'd imagine.

"Theresa's Sound World" popped up on the iPod today -- what a beauty of a song, probably the best Thurston tune from the Dirty/Jet Set era...

Saw him last night....Wow...
It was as intense and beautiful as SY best moments...Really good. It shocked me to see how much of SY this band had.
Steve Shelly was ill, but the guy replacing him did a great job.
Ill post some pics later.

That's a shame about Steve, hopefully he's alright. Glad the show was still good.

he was just ill...i think he ate something bad in Chile.
Still impressive show. They have a very nice chemistry that reminds you of the best parts of SY.
And of course, i miss them so much.

Sounds like he had a lot of fun doing it; its not something new or groundbreaking at all but the dinamics are pretty much what i love about SY and every song from the album here is a keeper.
Feels like a lost SY record.

I listened to it, but couldn't help but missing SY too much. Sounded the same, but it didn't feel right.

I think "Shadow of a Doubt" might be my favorite Sonic Youth song.
