My issue is something totally ludicrous. I have friends at the show who used to love PJ up through the 2006 tour. I didnt shut up about how great lincoln was and how this tour felt different. They used to be int he fan club and are no longer for obvious reasons. The came across some free tickets in the lower bowl at the end of the arena. I was really hoping for a show that would change their view points but looking at this setlist.....meh. wont happen and i will continue being the douchey PJ fan.

So grateful Lincoln was a good show. Not sure my heart could have handled it not being memorable.

I have never seen Ed do so many PT windmills before. That was quite a sight! Band was definitely into the show...sometimes it seemed like the crowd wasn't. Maybe they were just in awe...or were just snoozing through the greatest hits setlist.

Oh yeah the re-worked LBC with Jumpin' Jack Flash intro was awesome. Made it an even bigger song than it already is.

I was there last night and it was definitely kind of an odd set, with some pacing issues. Not sure of the reports of the crowd being blah. I thought it ranked among the loudest crowds I've heard in my 51 shows, at least during the main set.

Pendulum through Save You was fantastic. Eddie's voice sounded full and warm on the quiet ones, and properly screamy on the loud ones. I'm a huge fan of Nothingman->Go. It just works so well. But after Save You, things really went up and down. Even Flow and Sirens were Even Flow and Sirens. LBC was great with the new jam. I haven't been into that one in a long time, but it definitely has a new life. Daughter was decent, but they seemed to just abruptly decide to end it with no tag.

I Got Id was a nice surprise. I had just been talking with a friend about how every show seems to have a song that you didn't realize you really wanted to see and then it winds up being a highlight, and this was it. The Fixer was fine and Unthought Known felt big and intense. But between those two there was this long band intro/speech by a doctor that was certainly a nice sentiment, but kinda took the wind out of the sails just when the band seemed to be firing up again. GTF and RVM were great and closed the set nicely.

Maybe it was the three annoyingly chatty, stumbly drunk couples that we found ourselves next to when the encore started, but the encore felt like it kinda dragged. I'm not a big fan of Elderly Woman as part of the sit-down encore. Thin Air and Footsteps sounded great, but I could really do without the woman looking deep into her man's eyes singing, "It was you!" I think Eddie does a nice job with Imagine, but it's kinda silly to think about thousands of people singing "imagine no possessions" while holding their $500 phones in the air. It looked pretty, though. Last Kiss is probably what made the encore feel so dragged out, but probably not for the people behind the stage. Why Go/Do the Evolution was a fierce, much-needed combo at that point, and was a highlight.

The second encore was predictable but fun. But I'm really not a fan of Indifference as the closer with the house lights up. It just loses something for me. That said, Stone sounded phenomenal on it. His tone on the leads feels so good on the ears. His RITFW leads were great too.

In summary...

Great: The first nine songs, LBC, I Got Id, Why Go/Do the Evolution
Not Great: The pacing of the show after the first nine songs, six drunk people.

A fine show with some fantastic moments, but was hoping for a bit more from my hometown show (fairly or unfairly).

Fantastic post and I would echo everything you just said; Including the drunk couple that was next to us. The dude was wasted when he arrived at his seat and looked like a mess. I could hardly make out most things he was saying. They ended up leaving right after Even Flow, which was nice. That said, your description of the set and its ups and downs was very accurate. LBC was great. And that is a song that I skip 95% of the time. Release was a personal highlight for me as it was my first time seeing it live (5th PJ show).
