Thank you for your service. You went to West Africa, you did a brave and kind thing, and you made America look good. That's wonderful. Now, please just stay at home for a couple of weeks. As a medical professional, you may think a quarantine is pointless and silly. But, quite frankly, we are frightened. It's a scary disease. Just humor us.
Sincerely,

I almost hope she comes down with it.

I kinda feel this way too. Im glad she stood up and said a mandatory quarantine violated her rights (it does). Im glad they let her out of it (they shouldnt have FORCED it in the first place). Now she should take some time and relax and quarantine herself, just because.

Mandatory quarantine might be excessive in this case, but even I would say that it is a valid function of government when the public health threat is significant. If you have sufficient income to go to West Africa for weeks or months at a time, a 21 day voluntary quarantine will probably not break the bank. (maybe she can look into that guy's aunt who makes $7444/month online during her time at home)

Her behavior isn't a question of science, it's question of obeying the rules the government lays out, which are not usually based on science or facts but trending public opinion. So in fact, she is right and she's not going to cause a health risk to the public by defying the quarantine, but what she is doing is setting a precedent that the rules only apply to those whose choose to accept them and clearly demonstrating the fragility of governments ability to enforce it's own mandates. If she doesn't abide by the quarantine why should anyone? She needs to realize she is not Ebola's version of Rosa Parks.
Edit: The CDC is at least trying to be a little more upfront about it now:

And has no one mentioned that our Aussie friends have effectively shut their border to West African travelers?

I was under the impression this was pretty much debunked.
Plus, it's the NY Post.

After I posted that it NYC Health Department said he "fully cooperated", which is not the same as "he didn't lie at first", but it's history at this point.
