You'll always have hummus in a pinch.

Anyway, I'm posting to say I'm jumping on the Whole 30 bandwagon this January, starting today. I had to get a gigantic New Year's Day brunch in, and my wife and I had pasta and a nice bottle of wine last night to celebrate my last night as a carb loaded man for a while.

I'm well aware of the criticisms of this diet. "You won't get all yr nutrients cutting out nuts and grains", "you will relapse hard afterwards", "you won't lose weight". Blah Blah. I want to stress that I eat far too much bread and cheese. I've been eating too much sweet treats lately too. I could also afford to cut booze for a month. I think restricting myself to meats, veggies and fruit for a month would do me a bit of good.

Anyway, I'm excited about this challenge and I'm wondering how many RMers have had mental or physical success in the past? Main thing I hope to get out of this is to not feel so bloated and tired all the god damn time.
we've done it a few times now..first time was tough because i love my pasta but you get over it...i did cheat with alcohol however, I'm not stupid

I'm not going to cheat, but there's a GM conference in Austin I'll be attending later this month that is going to be tough. Lots of beer and liquor vendors hosting the events.

We're on a similar plan, Chris. I'll have a few during football on a Sunday, though. And holidays that don't fall on a Friday or Saturday. And days before holidays that don't fall on a Friday or Saturday. Vacations are something else, as well.

I am going nuclear this week, to offset the holiday gluttony. I'm running miles every day and eating so much fiber i might need to wear an adult diaper.

just bought some of these to dial up the tempo

i have found if you dry them and heat them in the skillet with a few drops of sesame oil it takes away the funk smell almost entirely

then douse them in pasta sauce or whatever

Day 3 with no added sugar after an extended sweets binge (basically ate whatever was put in front of me since my kid was born). So far this has been easy.*

*I'm allowing Cholula and Sriracha into my diet which each have a tiny bit of added sugar

Yellowbird makes a sriracha with blue agave nectar. Still technically a sugar, but healthier.

We're making eggplant and egg tonight. I really don't know what that is or what to expect besides eggplant and egg. Apparently it's a Filipino thing my wife grew up on.

Looking for some solid, healthy smoothies recipes. Anyone have some faves? Never been in the smoothie game before, but when I made them they were all 100% fruit based. Looking for some that I can have for any meal.
