We pay for internet only, plus Amazon Prime. We borrow log-ins for HBOGo, Netflix, FX, and Xfinity (this one is surprisingly great), plus the PBS app is free; and we occasionally rent movies from Google Play.
Internet is $100/mo, and the Prime membership works out to $5.58/mo. So for $105.58/mo, we have access to all this media, and we're really only missing out on sports and live news. Does Apple TV trump this?

My interent is like $68/month and I have direct tv credentials so i can log in to Fox Sports, NBC sports live, hbonow, hbogo on apple tv, and then I pay for netflix and hulu. Then of course access to applestore and all that good stuff.tragabigzanda wrote:I've only spent a little bit of time with Apple TV, but I suspect it's a ripoff...Strat wrote:GUys, just cut the cord, get apple tv, and a friends direct tv login info. If you are referring to the people employed in film & tv not making a solid living, then yes, we are part of that problem.
I do believe that those companies are too liberal with the number of devices they allow to access one account, but I don't blame people for taking advantage of it.LoathedVermin72 wrote:No he's not

sports, conan on tbs, and wrestling on usa are the only things i would truly miss on cable...slingtv does have espn and tbs, plus an additional sports package, but the data limit thing has me concernedtragabigzanda wrote:So you're paying a little under $100/mo and have access to more live stuff than we do; yet your DirectTV log-in in presumably subsidized by a friend or yoga student. It's listed at $20/mo, so in theory you'd be paying just a little bit more than us, and would have access to live stuff, yet no free shipping from Amazon. This sounds like a net wash to me.Strat wrote:My interent is like $68/month and I have direct tv credentials so i can log in to Fox Sports, NBC sports live, hbonow, hbogo on apple tv, and then I pay for netflix and hulu. Lenny, I'd say go with either the Stip or Trag plan, depending on your preference for live tv vs. free Amazon shipping. Either way, you don't need to be paying $180/mo for your content. I'll even ask my mom if you can borrow her Netflix log-in, if you promise to post a flattering pic of her in the Hot Girls thread.
