I'm really excited for this! We'd never watched Twin Peaks until last year and really enjoyed it. I'd forgotten completely about the movie that was made. I'm going to buy it from Vudu. I just wish we hadn't cut off Showtime, but this gives me a reason to renew.
Excellent feature in Variety about the new season. There's an video embedded in about half way through with Laura and Kyle talking about Lynch's creative process and coming (back) into Twin Peaks. Just excellent. I'm so goddamn excited for this.

I don't think he left completely, but stepped back a bit. I can't remember exactly what the story was.
The quality is like night and day.

Hang in there, it's all worth it for the finale. Lynch directed it after being gone for most of the second half of season two. The finale is in my top five favorite hours of television of all-time.
