CC's music isn't groundbreaking, but I love the juxtaposition between the laid-back guitars and drums and Georgia's evocative lyrics and vocal delivery.

I love Camp Cope, but I don't think I'm after anything particularly innovative or "new" sound-wise from them. Not sure what the year has to do with anything as far as music goes either. I get it (sort of, I guess) for techno, or EDM, or perhaps even hip hop, but straight ahead rock? What would you expect to change from 2011 to now?
I understand what you mean as far as Camp Cope being fairly straightforward and not particularly edgy or anything. For me though that's fine. They wear their heart on their sleeve, have a satisfying degree of earnestness, and give it their all.
I was being a bit cynical because it's a name that seems to pop up regularly as a great band but when I listen it feels like there is a new band exactly like that every single year for as long as I can remember. Most of the better newer genre rock bands generally have some other differentiating features like King Gizzard or Courtney Barnett that make them excellent. Maybe CC just ain't for me!

You're all good fuzzy! I get what you are saying. To be honest when I think about it I can't exactly put my finger on why I like them so much, but I just do.
It's a little like Skeggs, who I've only heard because my 15 yo daughter has been playing them lately. Again, nothing particularly special or stand-out about them, but they are earnest and sing with a good-old Aussie slouch, and that seems to appeal to me.

I played the fuck out of Camp Cope's debut when it came out but for some reason I never listen to them now. I've only played "How to Socialize" a few times.

Been listening along with Double J radio's 90's month and discovered or re-discovered a heap of stuff.
Here's the awesome Tumbleweed from The 'Gong. The back half of this song rips.

And let's follow that up with a slice of perfect pop - Falling Joys Lock It.

Tumbleweed was newie on Saturday with Hards Ons.
And I love that Falling Joys song. That album was big for me. They played with The Clouds last year and I missed it. Damn.

Ocean Alley...
New album in 2018, saw them twice (LA and Denver), and this may be my song of the year:
Anyone else here dig these guys?

The 'Weed from The 'Gong in Newie with Hard Ons! Struth!
Thip - I'm a fan of Ocean Alley for sure, and that album has gotten lots of plays at mine this year. Sarge is a fan also. Good band, good album, and that's a great tune there. Built for Sunday mornings.

Bit of cross promotion here between the Double J 90's month and Plat's PunkPop tourney, but I've just had a run through this whole album.
Great to be taken back to my youth and great to revisit such a fantastic album. Travesty that these guys weren't bigger outside of Oz.

Tumbleweed were/are great, though I admit I haven't seen them play since they reunited a few years back.
Their mid-period album Return to Earth was a big deal for me at the time:
I haven't heard that Grinspoon album since high school and I'm afraid to do so now.

I enjoyed the album run through for sure, and I think it played back pretty well for it's age. Happy to have scratched that itch and move on.
Going through the Tumbleweed back catalogue now.

The Living End have released a new album, Wunderbar. Gotta say that on first run through its pretty damn great. Here's the lead single, the bright-side pop-rock of Otherside. I really like this tune.
