"Blame is NOT a conversation, it is the shutting down of our collective growth. Which is where we are now. We have a choice as humans, shrink to our smaller, uglier selves, or be better and grow as only true Phoenixes can. I urge you to be that Phoenix."

It's a beautiful letter.

I’m taken aback by how profoundly this has affected you guys.

I’m also compiling a list of people who will be similarly affected when Gordon Ramsay dies.
Boy it’s like an RM shitlist so far.

Huh? Is that a joke?

The shows Ramsay and Bourdain produced aren't really comparable.

It's been two steps forward, three steps back dealing with Bourdain's loss. I believe in grieving and allowing oneself the room and freedom go grieve properly. I'm not running from the feelings. But this is really difficult. I'm trying to balance the pain with celebration: cooking for myself, trying new places, looking at pictures and recounting stories of the places I've travelled.

Some of it helps.

I know I was kidding. There is a Venn diagram of them both and overlay of those who appreciate both though.

Trying to remember places I've eaten that were either on his show or he wrote about. How about you guys?

Durumzade - Istanbul
Hot Sauce Williams - Cleveland
Hot Doug's - Chicago
Oklahoma Joe's - Kansas City
I'm trying real hard to be the shepherd.

One of my favorite Bourdain quotes (paraphrasing) KC is the best BBQ in the world, and Joe's is the best in KC.
