Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
People don't like the bullhorn that democrats get via Hollywood and the media. It's a one way conversation, and the overwhelming message coming out of idiot boxes is "don't be a moron, vote for Hillary". But people don't like being told what to do. Democrats still see this monopoly as an advantage, but it isn't anymore.

Pompeo, Trumps CIA director, is apparently a big time Benghazi truther. And now he will have access to what actually happened and who knew what and when.

Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
In general, Trump may be the worst possible example of "media hates Republicans" that can be tried. There may be no candidate in modern political history that benefitted from the type of coverage he received than Trump. He benefitted from free, unfettered airtime for much of this campaign, particularly in the early points. This was a benefit that was not granted to any Democrat or Republican.tragabigzanda wrote:The bold part seems like a gross overstatement. Major news outlets consistently ran two negative stories:McParadigm wrote:She also had the most effective and well-coordinated misinformation campaign against her in presidential history, including a remarkable weaponizing of social media, and faced a complete wildcard opponent whose strategy, attitude, and approach to voter appeals can't really be compared to anything we've ever seen before.
Any conclusions drawn about this election that are concise and clear are also certain to be inherently wrong.
1. Hillary is a friend to Wall St
2. Hillary wrote emails
I'd say that any of the recent arguments against a third-party candidate that pose them as "spoilers" have been far more effective at spreading misinformation.
Now, were they doing this to push an agenda? No, CNN was chasing ratings. But it's hard to argue that the media worked to destroy Trump when there likely wouldn't be a Trump without the uncritical coverage he received.

He was obnoxious when questioning Hillary. I was pretty shocked when I read his credentials today. He came off like a idiot in those hearings I thought he was a Sarah Palin type intellect. I guess book learnin' isn't everything.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/18/politics/ ... index.html"Like (Andrew) Jackson's populism, we're going to build an entirely new political movement," he said. "It's everything related to jobs. The conservatives are going to go crazy. I'm the guy pushing a trillion-dollar infrastructure plan. With negative interest rates throughout the world, it's the greatest opportunity to rebuild everything. Shipyards, iron works, get them all jacked up. We're just going to throw it up against the wall and see if it sticks. It will be as exciting as the 1930s, greater than the Reagan revolution -- conservatives, plus populists, in an economic nationalist movement."

He's right about the infrastructure spending though. Obama has been arguing the same thing for years. Why not with the rates so low? Its funny that some Republicans think its a good idea now.

How the fuck would putting that in context make it any less frightening? With everything else that hs come out of this guys mouth, how is that not an even clearer picture into the way his mind works?Bi_3 wrote:Holy out of context quote brahStrat wrote:"Dick Cheney. Absolutely. Plus it's unlikely all the work will go to illegals like during the Katrina reconstruction and last decades housing boom. Imagine would could happen in places like Detroit or Baltimore if the locals were hired to help repair their local infrastructure.bada wrote:He's right about the infrastructure spending though. Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
He was saying that when the media used names like that to describe them, the media transformed people's perception of the Trump team from 'WTH?' into powerful enemies of the established order. He was not saying he admires those people. Digster was partly correct on the last page. the media gave a ton of free press to Trump early on, but mostly because they thought he was embarrassing himself and the evil, no-good *isms and *ists on the red team. That he was fodder for the enlightened to mock. like most progressive thinkers, they were unwilling to consider viewpoints spoken by WMAs other than their own as something voters would take seriously. Bannon, for all his insane bullshit, saw the opening and exploited it.Strat wrote:How the fuck would putting that in context make it any less frightening? maybe the member of Cheney's personal assassination squad that is commissioned to end bannon's life force due to his big mouth will come bearing a reminder just before the ricin kicks in that Satan and Darth Vader are pussies compared to CheneyStrat wrote:"Dick Cheney. The irony of Bannon's haranguing about the 'coastal elites' is that he's speaking like someone who clearly has no idea about the complexities and diversity of the cities he's talking about. He strikes me as that type of person who hates New York and is too anxious to venture beyond Midtown. It's not really a surprise that he's guilty of the same thing he accuses liberals of being, but it's still a good reminder that everyone has their bubble.
