Re: TVG Presents: All Things Horror.
I watched The Substance
as I kind of suspected, I thought it was a very well-made film (with many scenes I loved) that just wasn't for me; but I am glad it's getting the popularity it is; I could talk about what I wished it did or didn't do but nah, it's just basically not my subgenre (and body horror never has been)

Man the 13 Ghosts remake is funnier than I remembered. Weirdly stacked cast too.

Terrifier 3.
I was a bit letdown with this one, specially after how good were the first two. It kinda feels they want to give us more backstory but dont quite have it yet. The first hour is basically a drama with Sienna being chased by memories and then all hell break loose, which is always what im expecting with this now franchise.
Ending was ok but again, feels they rushed this one over the success of the previous movie. With this one being huge, i can expect a very wild part 4 in hell.

I also watched Terrifier 3. I already didnt like the second, this is more of the same: excellent gore but with inept and dare I say, pretentious focus on drama and the most boring atempt at building characters and lore. What a chore really. I understand what the director is trying to do, but this is a slasher, keep it simple, avoid the cliches, and ffs, speed up the rythm. The first one is the only good one for me. I dont really understand how this shit was the n°1 movie in America.

Re: TVG Presents: All Things Horror.
First one had a very gritty and mysterious quality to it, and it was very violent and gory, the whole victoria arc is nuts and that made it special. Second one amped the gore with the now classic bedroom scene, and added a lot of demonic lore, which i liked it enough, everything with Sienna´s dad thats hinted about him being Art or being obsessed with him.
This third one tries the drama stuff too much i think, give us a possible different spin on Sienna´s dad ( dude maybe knew about the demonic spirits and how the enter this world) and the last part is also pretty fun, but it takes a whole hour to get there so it feels a little tired by then.
Part 4 in hell could be very fucking fun, specially if the have a bigger budget, which they possibly will with this one being a smash hit.

Re: TVG Presents: All Things Horror.
yesterday I watched Heretic; great performances all round and the setup was great, but I found it ultimately underwhelming and a bit nonsensical
then I finally watched Cuckoo, it's only just streamable here, and man I LOVED it; I was hoping buying it wouldn't be a waste of money and nope, I'll definitely be rewatching this one; a very underrated 2024 movie
