I'm too lazy to read my own book.
Demien Echols wrote lyrics for Army Reserve. Boom has a music credit on LBC
I count Boom as a band member.

But good find. I thought O'Brien would have a writing credit, but he doesn't.

I get the feeling part of Watt's contribution is telling the guys when he sees a place where some element of their past excellence can be referenced/repeated/built off of. One thing in this song for instance that calls back earlier Pearl jam is the dueling down scale and up scale on the guitars. I could easily imagine Watt suggesting something like that, and thus getting a writing credit.

For me it's in the pre chorus.

Almost feels like a mash between rival and grievance, with a touch of parting ways.
I'm hearing stuff like the beginning of You Are where the balance is rapidly jumping back and forth.

Having your hot shot producer co-write the songs is really lame.

It's kind of soured me on the whole thing.

If it leads to a good song then what's the problem?

There's something undignified about it.

Isn’t that in his title as producer? To produce something?

Didn’t George Martin play on some Beatles songs?

Sure, and Brendan O’Brien has played extensively on Pearl Jam records, including bass on at least one song.

But that’s obviously quite distinct from what I’m talking about.

i’m sure BOB wrote some licks here and there and contributed to pieces

Wottblatt may have too and since the music industry has changed since then needs to get the credit so he can buy fuel for his gold rocket car whereas in BOB’s era the record label already showered him with pearls and champagne on a nightly basis

BO'B obviously "wrote" the ridiculous piano contributions on LB on songs like Future Days, whether he received credit as a songwriter or not.

Whereas BO'B ruining songs with his weird little shmaltzy contributions on LB was dignified?

Sure, but again - that's not the same thing.
