I can't believe I wasn't that much into Los Ageless when it came out as a single. It's a fantastic track.

Some weak tracks early on but from Los Angeles on this album is incredible.

why are you so wrong?

I'm more on Pete's team here. I think the weakest songs on the record are Sugarboy and Pills. I happen to like both of them but I think that opening run is a bit uneven. From Los Ageless on, though, the album is fucking unreal. LA, Happy Birthday Johnny and Savior might be my top three on the album. Smoking Section and Hang on Me would round out my top five, probably. But it's still super early. We'll see how this grows and shifts.

I think the start is really strong. Then is a little boring, specially with those two songs i mention yesterday.

But again, there's not a moment of this record that I dislike. Which is kind of unique. With each of her other records, I've had songs I really didn't care for upon first listen. That's not the case here.

Been listening to Annie for years...not sure how to digest this record yet.
It some some great great songs. I never really liked the ballad side of here....

Now popmusic is the sound everyone is going (Foo Fighters, Qotsa, Beck,Arcade Fire, ...) this record comes at a time where I was actually getting a bit sick about these pop sounds are all over 'indie/alternative' scene...or whatever haha. It's all merging in one genre anyway...

Luckily this record is easily the best of these pop records...

I like thinking of it more in terms of glam than pop. It's got some hard edges to it. Plus her signature guitar wizardry is all over it, which helps a lot.

But I totally understand why someone would feel turned off by this record, or at least find it a tad less accessible. Especially compared to her previous output.

Not ready for a ranking yet but Masseduction, Smoking Section, Los Ageless, Pills and Hang on Me are probably my top 5.

Smoking Section is so fucking good. I love all the layering in that. It's so dark and explosive and weird. She's so good at closing tracks.

I think so, yes. And if she does what she did in LA, you'll look forward to hearing all of them live on Tuesday.

I really dig Fear the Future. I can see that one climbing even higher over time. It's so loud and aggressive. I love turning the volume all the up on that one.

I think so, yes. And if she does what she did in LA, you'll look forward to hearing all of them live on Tuesday.

I can dig it. Last time she melted my heart by singing I Prefer Your Love while staring straight at me for the whole song, so I will expect the same treatment with one of the new songs. Happy Birthday, Johnny, I guess.

We talked about this a few pages back, yeah. I really hope we get the full stripped down album. I'd love to have two versions.

There have been several interviews where Annie seems to imply that she went back and forth a lot on this record regarding how it should sound and where the songs should go. She seemed to be tweaking the tracks for a long time, almost right up until the last minute.

So, severed crossed fingers and all that.
