Putting together a weekly routine while working odd hours sucks. So does summer rain. Today is my only non-day shift of the week and I was really looking forward to running Monday's route again and working on improvements. Instead, treadmill later.

Have you considered running into the rain to be a human light again?

I'm searching hope that I don't have to.

Solid this morning. Held myself back because I have 4 days of running at 8,000 feet coming.

Can't wait to be running near Zane Grey's place.

Pulled the trigger on a TomTom Runner 3 Music watch. Looking forward to being able to leave my phone at home most of the time.

Awesome. I'm loving the data I'm getting out of my Fitbit, but if I had to do it again I would have gone for something that can export GPS data to Strava. I hate carrying my phone. Just having it in my hand almost takes me out of the moment when I'm on a run.

I'm more terrified of dying while running, considering I've probably done a ton of damage to my heart with alcohol and a short bout with amphetamines over the last five or six years. Should I be worried or nah?

What's everyone's daily eating habit? I've been following a pretty decent 50% carb, 25% protein 25% fat routine over the last couple of weeks. Meats have only been fish and chicken.

Had a burger today because why not? Normally my runs energize me for the rest of the day, but this is the first time I've needed a 20 minute afternoon nap. Wondering if it was the burger splurge, running longer than the last few times, running first thing in the AM versus my usual afternoon run or a combo of any/all.

Also, lol @ my distance versus you guys on Strava. All about the routine and the personal gains though, right?

I've decided to take the week off if that makes you feel better.

My eating habits are shit. Total shit. I know I could improve with a better diet. One thing I rarely ever do is drink alcohol though so theres that.

I'm not sweating it. Just a general hardy har at the discrepancy on the chart. I'm not in the same league but the Red Mosquito running group is still fun as hail

I just realized I can export my old RunKeeper GPS data to Strava.

M-F I'm pretty much a food robot. Oatmeal for breakfast, granola bar or apple mid-morning, either a sandwich (tuna or pbj) or chicken breast for lunch, nuts mid-afternoon, reasonable portion of whatever we're having for dinner. I try to stay around 1800-2000 calories. I'm not disciplined enough to track macros, but generally I try to eat low carb, esp. sugar, which is my weakness. Having a desk job with a consistent schedule makes it relatively easy, fortunately. I track everything on the LoseIt! app.

I'm finding that in the winter 3 square meals a day keeps me satisfied, but in the summer I need to snack every couple of hours or I get intense cravings. Maybe something to do with the days being longer, I don't know.

Weekends are usually a shitshow. Cinnamon rolls for breakfast, lunch out, big evening meal, dessert, beer, etc. This past Saturday night I had half a pan of lasagna, sourdough bread, 4 beers, 6 huge cookies, ice cream...ridiculous.

Overall, next to running/fitness, diet has been my biggest improvement this year. In 2017 I've had 1 soda, no fast food burgers and fries, maybe half a dozen donuts, and only 2-3 drinks per week (usually). That used to be an average day for me.

My diet is crap right now. Summer is my "off-season." I eat lots of garbage and drink tons of beer. My goal is alway to limit my weight gain to 10 lbs. in the summer.

For the rest of the year, I generally have a high-carb, high-sodium 2,000 calorie-a-day diet, with no more than 2 beers. Lots of English muffins, pasta, rice, bananas, apples and chicken noodle soup.

The high-sodium thing could become a problem in a few years, but my BP is still pretty stellar right now.
