saw that they're doing their Homecoming shows in Cincy this year. hopefully they'll revisit what they were supposed to do in 2020 with those shows that got cancelled and play High Violet (my favorite The National album) in its entirety.

Throw in a pseudo intermission and play
Sorrow ten times in a row.

wow. what an absolute monster of a show tonight. they mentioned that they were digging out old shit, but hell yeah.
Once Upon a Poolside
Eucalyptus
Tropic Morning News
New Order T-Shirt
Mistaken for Strangers
Bloodbuzz Ohio
The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness
Green Gloves
Slow Show
Alien
Grease in Your Hair
Day I Die
Walk It Back
Humiliation
Murder Me Rachael
Turn Off The House [new song]
Pink Rabbits
England
Graceless
Fake Empire
Encore:
Weird Goodbyes
Mr. November
Terrible Love
About Today
Send for Me
They transitioned right from Humiliation (they skipped the outro) into Murder Me Rachael. But man did the latter sound they hadn't played it in like 10 years. They also changed some things around with, and added a lot onto, Mr. November (they repeated the bridge and last chorus), Terrible Love (they added an extended solo), and About Today (which was one of the best versions of the song I've heard).
Of the new songs, Grease In Your Hair was crazy good, as was Eucalyptus. Great show.

Glad you had a great time. I just checked out the new song they played - Turn Off the House - and I think it’s pretty good.

What are we thinking, a companion album at the end of the year? They’ve already played 6 new songs this tour, plus there’s Weird Goodbyes.

I'm thinking an Expanded Edition like High Violet... I'm
hoping for a structured full B-side collection.

they interviewed aaron dessner who said that they had 25 songs recorded and that they hope to release the new one "very soon" (note: he did say that they have a tendency to take what they recorded and play around with and rework them, though).
he all but confirmed that weird goodbyes will not be on any forthcoming album.

That’s weird; there was a note on pre-order page for the Cherry Tree version of the new album that mentioned a “permanent home” for Weird Goodbyes.

Here’s the exact wording: “ The Cherry Tree member exclusive variant of First Two Pages of Frankenstein includes a Flexidisc single of “Weird Goodbyes (feat. Bon Iver).” Previously released digitally, this will be an initial physical release of the song ahead of its future home.”

Weird Goodbyes was one of the singles they released this year right ?
I forgot about that one.
New album is slowly growing on me.

It was a standalone single with Bon Iver released last summer.

The flexi single of Weird Goodbyes sounds surprisingly good—I don’t think I had ever played one before, but it sounds like any other 45.
