Funny, that's what people said for the first wave....

And the second wave....

And the third wave....

And the fourth wave.......
No, I’m specifically talking about now.

Normal-health people are getting covid and literally nothing is happening to them. It’s fine.

Good thing the link between cases and hospitalizations/deaths is being broken, then.

I don't know what it's like in other states, but NC has as many patients in the hospital and on ventilators as it always has. Pretty close to a record for hospitalizations.

While death is the ultimate end I would not wish breathing problems on anyone. People keep looking at death as the measuring stick but there are other outcomes that people don’t even consider

North Carolina cases are up 200%, hospitalizations up 40%, deaths down 17% over the past 14 days. Obviously hospitalizations are a lagging indicator by a few days and deaths even more so, but this goes along with the South African and British experience with omicrom. And with such a large increase in cases, even if hospitalizations occur at a lower rate, the absolute numbesr will still rise. The decoupling between cases and hospitalizations/death isn't complete obviously and it's still early to say that it's happening for sure, but early data is promising.

Of course. My sense of smell and taste has been broken for three months. People should try to avoid getting if they can, but everything we know about this variant seems to be pointing to it being significantly milder, and lower hospitalization rates seem to be a good sign to me.

I find the promises of this pandemic unconvincing.

Dad has it, which means my little siblings probably have it too. He's fully vaxxed and boosted so hopefully it stays mild. The kids aren't showing any symptoms
