then I finally watched Cuckoo, it's only just streamable here, and man I LOVED it; I was hoping buying it wouldn't be a waste of money and nope, I'll definitely be rewatching this one; a very underrated 2024 movie
I wanna see Cuckoo, kinda forgot about it, maybe tonight? if you loved this one you should check out Luz, his first feature, seems they are quite similar in terms of storytelling and vibe.

This timeline is weird as fuck.
Hugh Grant has always been phenomenal, the world is just finally realizing it. That guy could have chemistry with a brick wall.

she's great in Cuckoo, ugh I don't understand why this film didn't do even better critically; a lot of its puzzle pieces are implied rather than in your face (so I guess it's the opposite to The Substance really) but that led some people to say it was too vague; I didn’t find it to be that

Yeah, i thought the movie was going to be bigger, and it kinda disappear when it came out.

Me too, but I had the theater to myself opening night. It was the horror movie of the year for me for the first 2/3 of it, but it fell apart at the end.

The other film that I had the theater to myself for was The Substance, which is my horror film of the year (so far).

"The Well"

I can't decide if I liked this or not; it was full of dodgy acting but shot beautifully, extremely gory and campy while also wanting to be genuine and emotional in parts; a real mixed bag that ultimately works as a love letter to old Italian B-movie horror

Smile 2
Good one, but the first one was much better
Specially the story and the main character

It got better on the last half though

aside from a couple of cliché choices during the demon possession sequences, "The Medium" was an incredibly well made Thai folk horror / possession film

Red Rooms.

I liked it a lot. Juliette Gariépy´s performance is one for the ages. The film is beautifully shot and unnerving.
Spoiler: show
I didnt quite liked how she kinda turns into Lisbeth Salander but other than that its also a great character piece

I am extremely confused by this vigilante reading. I’ve seen it espoused elsewhere and boy oh boy did I not take her character that way even a little bit. I think she’s just completely, irretrievably off the fucking deep end. I took her giving the mom the flash drive to be an act of profound perversion and cruelty, not compassion or justice or anything remotely resembling anything at all good or positive.
