Day 1 at Sea.Hear.Now:

Robert Randolph (fun), Guster (meh), The Revivalists (better than expected), the Black Crowes (not the same as their heyday but still great), 311 (better than expected), Noah Kahan (okay).

Day 2 promises more fun!!

Day 2: Bertha: Grateful Drag (excellent), Eggy (good set), Kool and the Gang (fantastic), Trey Anastasio Band (fantastic, and Bruce played Kitty’s Back with them which was amazing), Bruce Springsteen (amazing). What a weekend.

We saw Kool & The Gang open for Van Halen back in ‘12. PERFECT casting! Loved it. Great idea from DLR.

I have no upcoming concerts and I’m okay with that. In 2024, I managed to take the biggest band off my bucket list (Rolling Stones), see my favorite band from the front of the crowd (Pearl Jam), and see Bruce Springsteen play his hometown with a 3 hour and 15 min marathon that focused on his first 3 albums as part of a larger successful festival. My cup is pretty damn full on live music.

IDK if I can ever get my cup filled for an extended period.

I would have to check, but I don’t think I have had a string of great shows like this before.

Wow my experience with Ticketmaster was amazing this week; Primus and APC I got in the presale and Deftones I only had 78 people ahead of me, got the tickets I wanted for both. Now that said, both were $110 and change after bullshit fees still. But a rare win in the battle against bots and scalpers on day one.

I’m seeing Megadeth on Sunday too.

I just hate buying tickets

At this point when I see any show that isn’t GA for all tickets I usually don’t even bother trying for tickets. Too expensive and too annoying if you want decent seats.

I have become good at getting tickets. If you arm yourself with a little knowledge and skill, it can be a pleasant experience. A little luck and privilege helps too.

i will say that, when thinking back when the daughter and i saw her back in 2022, that was probably one of the best, most fun crowds for a *big* show that i'd been in. the gheys love them some dua lipa, and i'm there for it.
