It's interesting how a lot of us thought Riot Act would be an angry thrasher but it ended up being more contemplative and quiet. It simmers but doesn't ever explode. And I think I expected this to be the simmer but not explode album that just comes out swinging. This has a lot more energy and fire to it than I expected. Even the quiet tracks feel motivated for the most part.
Nice surprise.

After one listen, there's some stuff I was underwhelmed by, some I really need to listen to a couple more times, and a lot I really liked/loved.
Early Fav's:
Quick Escape
Never Destination
Take the Long Way
Comes Then Goes
Dance of the Clairvoyants
I really need to listen to Alright and Buckle Up again.

Haven't had a chance to get away to give this a proper listed, but it warms my heart to see so many people are enjoying it.
Hope it lasts.

Ed feels much livelier on this record thant he last two and i think that has to be due to the production of the album. This feels like a band in the same room "hammering" it out.

it is more hopeful than I expected, and surprisingly unself-satisifed

The middle has two that are problematic and the end really does too.
We’ve been here before. They stand out as almost recycled songs when stood beside the others
Never destination and take the long way have no business being where they are or even in this

Buckle Up is as good as anything they’ve ever released. Quick Escape is too. How did they do it? Where has this been? I can 100% say that Buckle Up is in my top 20 PJ songs ever, no qualifiers. Josh Evans, thank you. Definitely some sprinkles of yield and no code on this record. Loving Seven O’clock. I like Take The Long Way, Alright, Comes Then Goes a lot too. It’s a winner!

This is better than I thought it would be. Overall, I just wish Ed were more emotional. I'm just not connecting with him. Something feels off. If he sung better on this album, I'd probably love it. As of now, after two listens, I'd give the album a 3/5.

Not a 3.2/5?

I'm closer to a 2.9 actually
