Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
See, the discussion here before we found this tune was on cheese. Someone mentioned if it's sincere, it's not cheese. I agree. They went on to say that orchestration can lead to cheese. Fair enough.
The thing that I find funny is that this song is without a doubt sincere lyrically. I feel the delivery is fragile. It's sincere. The song is all about vulnerability. The acoustic is a nice touch because it's not possible to make it orchestrated if it's straight up acoustic guitar. This ain't cheese. This is just going to be popular. THAT turns people off here whether or not they can admit it.
I think this song is about someone being with a loved one and trying to protect them, but desperate for help. I envision a national tragedy of some sort with the writer waiting for an emergency response for himself and his loved one. Hence... hear the sirens.

Agreed, but it's awfully close. I really can't say I like the production on this at all.
The people who hated Last Kiss being such a huge hit are going to want to hang themselves when this blows up.

Counting Crows would've written this, production included, without any embarrassment at all.

It's not a quality comparison. It's a stylistic similarity that's starting to really swell up underneath their sound.WtOB? wrote:yeah, i don't think this is bon-jovi-bad.

This tune won't blow up. The chorus isn't catchy.guitar_davey wrote:WtOB? wrote:yeah, i don't think this is bon-jovi-bad.

I am looking forward to my thoughts on the tune after the shock wears off in awhile...
The melody does take a few quirky left tunes which keeps it interesting...

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
i could see this being a hit in, like, 2004 or something. around the time that hoobastank "reason" song was hanging around.Monkey_Driven wrote:This tune won't blow up. The chorus isn't catchy.guitar_davey wrote:WtOB? wrote:yeah, i don't think this is bon-jovi-bad.

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
Yeah - it's a pop song, but I don't see this becoming hugely popular.
