Since when can I not store kids in the trunk of my car?
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
While we're talking about unseatbelted car passengers, now is a good time to revisit (under a slightly different lens) the seatbelt/vaccine analogy.
To be clear I always wear my seatbelt and I am triple-vaxxed. Not doing these things is foolish.
Anyway, my decision to wear a seatbelt around my body is about MY safety. It has no bearing on anyone else driving the streets along with me. Their decision to seatbelt or not will matter only to them if we get into an accident. I'm doing nobody but myself any favors or disservice either way from a physical safety perspective.
To argue differently, replacing seatbelt with vaccine, is pure folly. You have to do some pretty creative arithmetic to make the case that my decision whether or not to put a vaccine in my own body makes any difference to the next person as to whether or not they'll contract and/or become ill from Covid. You get a vaccine to protect YOURSELF. Period.
Which is why your rules about being vaccinated to enter a restaurant, barber shop, etc., make no sense.

Unvaxxed person goes into a restaurant where people are potentially carrying the virus but since they're vaxxed, they most like asymptomatic.Bammer wrote:

Unvaxxed person becomes infected and falls ill.
Unvaxxed person requires medical attention and is admitted to hospital.
Unvaxxed person worsens and goes to the ICU, taking up a bed for that could have been used for a post-op patient, trauma accident victim etc and is also taking up resources (staff, equipment)
Multiply this by thousands, as been the case all over the world.
The fact that you can't comprehend this is pretty embarrassing at this point in the game.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
If you get into a fender bender, the seatbelt helps you stay in place so you can keep control of the car. If you're not wearing the seatbelt, when you get hit and bumped out of your seat and smashed into the steering wheel with your feet off the pedals, you can lose control of the car and turn a minor accident into something more serious. You hit a pedestrian or slam into a third car.

Unvaxxed person gets Covid in the restaurant, 99.9% of the time will get a case of the sniffles, if even that.Stickman wrote:Unvaxxed person goes into a restaurant where people are potentially carrying the virus but since they're vaxxed, they most like asymptomatic.Bammer wrote:

Besides, they should have been wearing a mask until they got to their table (where Covid magically no longer exists), and would have avoided contracting Covid from another asymptomatic covid-positive patron the next table over in the first place, right?
Look, if it's THAT bad the restaurants never should have re-opened again. But it's not that bad. And so now we have all these half-measures.
Such as cancel basketball games but not practices (in the same exact gym), because yeah that makes so much sense.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
If you'd said vaccine mandates are an affront to individual liberty (personally don't give a shit) or that they way they're rolled out is largely nonsensical (true!) or that we need to stop valuing the lives of the immunocompromised (disagree but okay), then sure, maybe you'd have a case here, but the idea that a vaccine makes "no difference" is just fundamentally not true.
Vaccines cut down on community spread and lower chances of transmission.
Low community spread protects the immunocompromised and unwillingly unvaccinated.
Again, you can say you don't give a shit about those people and that we need to just get back to our lives, but that's a different argument than saying that it's entirely a personal decision.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
How does vaccination cut down on spread? I don't pay much attention, but from what I've heard it doesn't appear that vaccination is preventing the spread? I could be wrong.
Seems like vaxxed people have more of a chance to spread the virus (since vaccination itself apparently doesn't affect the spread) since the unvaxxed are more likely to become deathly ill from it and remove themselves from society. Right?
Blaming them for hospital overcrowding (to the extent that it exists--i think that's been vastly overstated) is a much better argument?

Convert prisons to hospitals since we’re not locking up violent criminals anymore. Any other problems I can solve?
