I've lost so much track of everything in the books. I need to re-read those fuckers. Is Howland Reed still alive?

Yes, and we've never met him. He's in some floating castle somewhere in the Neck.

You should absolutely re-read them. And post here as you go so we can geek out together.

:luv:

I shouldn't start a 'Let's Actually Read' thread series for it?

Thanks!

For real about the castle thing, though?

I'm a little unclear about whether their castle actually floats around the Neck or whether the swamps where it's located are so treacherous that it seems like it moves. I'm sure the fucked up seasons also do crazy shit to the landscape.

How soon do we expect we'll meet him? Winds of Winter?

Sure, but so were a bunch of other people and they don't/didn't know Jon's true parentage.
I imagine he doesn't know Jon's parentage, but rather that Rhegar didn't "kidnap" Lyanna.
That would make sense.

Doubtful, since we know Ned would never break a promise; it's one of the only absolutes in the entire ASOIF universe. I am convinced the only other person who knows is Howland Reed.
Yep. He wouldn't even tell Catelyn which would have made Jon's life immensely easier.
Are we talking about book Ned or show Ned? In the books, I agree. It's probably Howland Reed that tells Jon. The show, however, seems to have foreshadowed Benjen. The last thing he said to Jon was "we'll talk when I return." And Uncle Benhands is clearly aware of the visions that Bran has witnessed. Even if Ned didn't say anything to him, I'm fairly certain that Benjen and Bran will be the ones to tell Jon on the show.

I agree. I have a feeling the audience/Bran will find out in episode 10, but Jon will not until next season.

When I saw Ian McShane was cast for a role I thought for sure he'd be Howland Reed.

In his latest Livejournal post (keep reading once you've finished laughing), GRRM confirmed that he just got home from New York and that he has "lots to report." He usually meets with his editors when he's there...we'll see...

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

If I had to guess:

1. Brienne and Pod get snatched up by the Brotherhood.

2. Sandor wants to fuck their shit up for what they did to him.

3. Beric and crew tell Sandor to chill, that he can't decide that.

4. They bring them both to LSH to settle the dispute.
