You could listen to Ole instead. Just to Tide you over.
I could let it echo through my ears

Probably for the best. I'd hate for Jorge to come in here and have to yell at us to keep it down.

i've been beaten down

i'm only saying
mind your manners

i caught myself believing
that i needed god
and if it's out there somewhere
we sure could use it now

my patience's trying
this world don't know no better

i'm only saying
mind your manners
someone say it

self-realized and metaphysically redeemed

ya know, no one's sayin'

Very impressed. Gonna be hard to pull this one off live though. I guess we'll find out in a few days.

I'd agree. But that's sort of cart before horsing, too. At this point I'm just enjoying it for what it is. I'm not really worried/thinking about the album as a whole yet. MYM did fire up my excitement and my expectation level, though. This single is good enough to make me expect a good album, regardless of what that album is actually composed of (rockers, ballads, midtempos, experiments, etc).

It's better now, at home, through stereo speakers. The first half of the song is solid enough, but as other folks have said, the bridge/second chorus is really good. Ed sounds good, I like the melody (really like the delivery of "ri-hight around the corner").

The outro is good, too.

I just listened to "Ole" for the first time in a long time, and I think I like it more. In both cases, though, the solos don't do anything for me. Nothing. Just nothing. They substantially weaken both songs for me. I don't know.

when I listen to ole I just pretend hes saying oh yeah!
Ole really is an awful lyric and ruins the song...MYM though is solid and gives me hope that its only one sound of many on lightning bolt...God I hate that title :shake:
Hope it holds up

I agree, I'm just lolling at some who are pouting and suggesting the album will be shit because of one song.

Someone (harmless?) said this is a song whose long term staying power will depend on the context and depth the album supplies. That seems right.

I think I listened to this like 30 times today. That's probably it for the day. Good stuff. I've missed real new music from the boys

I'm a fan. I'll probably make some excuses for it, even if it is a little wonky. But yeah. It's just one song. Who knows what Lighting Bolt will end up being. But they've got my attention.

I absolutely hate the tight delay on the MYM solo. That setting should be removed from every delay pedal made.

Yes. Forever what I'll refer to as Got Some syndrome.

Yeah, we need some more song titles so we can start some speculation as to what possessed them to go with Lightning Bolt. Right now it boggles.

Man, I do not like Got Some. Not even a little bit. Alright, maybe a little bit. Maybe not, though.

I have my fingers crossed. Like I said, by itself it's not actually much of anything to me. Not offensive, not exciting, just....sort of there. But context could really sell it well.
