Still more than a year away from its December 2015 release date, J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ is already generating a lot of excitement. But when adding to a series as classic as ‘Star Wars,’ the possibility of dropping the ball and upsetting fans is definitely going to be high. Here are some ways they could totally screw up the new movie:

1. Title the movie ‘Return Of The Jedi’: For a movie in which the heroic Jedis will presumably return to action, Return Of The Jedi seems like pretty much the perfect name. But for longtime Star Wars enthusiasts, this title might raise a red flag, as IMDB indicates it has already been used by a previous film in the series.

2. Let the actors eat while on camera: Actors have to eat, but J.J. Abrams should be sure to explain to his cast that they can only have lunch while they are off camera.

3. Make fun of the disabled: Even one line of dialogue disparaging the physically or cognitively handicapped would make it really difficult to purely enjoy Star Wars as an outer space escapist fantasy.

4. Bring back Jabba The Hutt with legs: Continuity errors happen, but few would be able to forgive a flub as glaring as reintroducing a character that was clearly killed off in a previous film with a new pair of legs.

5. Accidentally spell it ‘Spar Wars’ in the credits: Unless J.J. Abrams wants to incur the wrath of Star Wars purists around the world, he’d better make sure not to accidentally spell it ‘Spar Wars’ in the opening credits. Superfans would lose their minds!

6. Make Chewbacca throw up every time he’s on camera: Sorry, but that’s just not our Chewbacca.

7. Accidentally write the entire script referring to Luke Skywalker as ‘Star Wars’: Fanboys would be quick to point out that Star Wars is the name of the movie franchise, not the name of that franchise’s protagonist. If characters in the new film kept calling Luke Skywalker ‘Star Wars,’ J.J. Abrams would have a veritable riot on his hands.

The Kerrys Eye has confirmed this morning that part of the next Star Wars film will be shot on one of the most remote and historic settlements in Ireland, Skellig Michael.

The Office of Public Works has stated that “Skellig Michael is being made available for a film production shoot on the island… this production is being fully supported by the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the Irish Film Board“. The paper is reporting that the news is very welcome by locals and hopes that it will rev up tourism and interest in the local area.



Skellig Michael is the site of a monastic settlement believed to have been constructed sometime between the 6th and 8th century and remained in use until the 12th century when it was abandoned.


I can say it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world, having spent a huge amount of my childhood (21 summers in fact) at a nearby village/caravan park.

Skellig Michael was enlisted as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site list in 1996.

Original Star Wars actor Mark Hamill has called his return to the franchise after more than 30 years an "unexpected gift".

"It was certainly unexpected. I already had a beginning, middle and end. I never thought we'd come back," he told the BBC's Lizo Mzimba.

"To go on to those sets that evoked so many memories. It is just astonishing."

He added that Harrison Ford was recovering well after breaking his leg on set in June.

"I was not on set. It was really terrible but I hear he's doing really well. It will take more than that to stop Harrison Ford," said Hamill, who was speaking on the red carpet of the UK premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy.

The 62-year-old starred in the three original Star Wars films, the first of which was released in 1977.

When the franchise was revived in 2002, the Luke Skywalker character was only seen as a baby in Revenge of the Sith (Episode III).

The new film, which only has the working title Episode VII so far, is due to be released in 2015.

The casting is a mix of original actors, including Ford as Han Solo and Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, and new faces to the Star Wars universe, such as Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o and Domhnall Gleeson, whose characters have yet to be named.

Speaking about returning to his biggest screen role with Fisher, Hamill said: "It was fantastic. Again - I thought even if they did a third trilogy, we wouldn't be involved, because it is really about the new generation of characters.

"We are just there to lend our support and grow contractually obligated beards."

He added that the new generation of actors brought in by director JJ Abrams were impressing him.

Im pretty excited for this film. I do hope there is enough of the original actors though. They are the ones I have an emotional connection with so i hope they are written in well enough to help pass the torch and help me get involved with the new characters and story lines.

I'd say they'll be in all three, but not overly featured

I hope Leia's in about 20 minutes of this, max. Would love if she's assassinated in the first reel.

Then Han bites it at the end of VII.

Luke can stay until the darker, middle episode (VIII). But hopefully he's out by then, too. And it would be cool if he was unable to come back as a force ghost.

I'm assuming at least one of them bites the dust. Probably Han, since I can't imagine Harrison Ford really wants to do two more movies.

I do actually think assassinating Senator Leia Solo would be a pretty rad catalyst for this trilogy. Could be a really emotional and shocking way to start off the major conflict.

Could also be cool / ironic / funny / interesting if Han is the only one who survives the entire thing.

Im gonna watch the shit out of the original trilogy leading up to the release of these new movies.

After Phantom Menace I felt no excitement for the next 2. For these ....I still have excitement.
