There seem to be more humans and less alien characters in these new movies. Chewbacca will be completely surrounded by humans in this.

it's pretty much the same as the OT. Almost entirely humans or robots with one cantina style scene (cantina, jaba's palace , canto bight, maz's bar)

What diverse cast was Chebacca hanging out with in the OT?

Back then even Darth Vader, the Emperor, the stormtroopers and the bounty hunters looked alien, and you had tons of droids.

Only three (Chewie, Jabba, and Yoda) of those characters are "main" characters. Most have no speaking lines or just a few.

Even as a kid I knew Stormtroopers and Vader were humans.

So far in this trilogy we've seen many of those characters again minus Jabba. We've also had Maz, Snoke, and the people of Jakku and Maz's palace.

Maz is about on level with Greedo or Jabba. Snoke, who knows what he is? Aliens in the background have been far less in recent movies. Very few new creations as well.

Jakku was filled with aliens, as was Maz's castle, as was the casino in TLJ. I'd say it is about on par with the first two films in the OT.

I can hardly remember any alien saying anything or getting serious screen time or story effect in any of those scenes.

I'm comparing the first two films in each trilogy. Outside of Yoda and Chewie, what alien had more than a couple lines of dialogue in the OT?

We already have three new movies including Rogue One. So shouldn't be a problem comparing to all of the OT. I think we've already covered all the main aliens above including Yoda, Chewie, Jabba, Greedo, the Ewoks, Ackbar, and more than anything the rich amount of minor characters in the OT. Anyway, there is no need to go around in a circle here. All I said was: "There seem to be more humans and less alien characters in these new movies. Chewbacca will be completely surrounded by humans in this." The former we have discussed, and the latter will probably be true.

Anders, you need to realize these guys work for Disney.
