Went to a screening of Vertigo last night. I saw it years ago and liked it, but I was really ready to embrace it this time.
Holy fuck, that movie is a sssslllllogggg. Herrman’s score is amazing and it has some very well-composed shots, but I was so goddamn bored. Hitchcock is much better when he’s being light/funny.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

North by Northwest blows this movie out of the water.

Meh not a big fan of that one either. I think The Trouble with Harry is probably his best.

Agreed.
Rearwindow is a close second, for me. Such a great film.

Watched The Good, the Bad and the Ugly this weekend for the first time. Wow that's a long movie. I love the look of the film, how crisp and real the entire thing feels. I did not like the sound editing. I read up on it and I get it, but I didn't like it. Loved the whole rest of it though.
I wasn't much of a Western (or Eastwood, for that matter) fan growing up so I hadn't seen it before. The only movie of his I've watched previously was Firefox because of the bitchin' plane. Never was a fan of the Dirty Harry films.

I need to revisit GBU. It’s one of my favorite movies but it’s been a long time.

3:10 To Yuma
Which one? I saw the remake and it was alright. Good anti-hero turn at the end, I always like when that happens in movies.
I was thinking the other day...I didn't watch a lot of movies with my family. Maybe it was because A) we lived in the boonies and B) VCRs were a fairly new invention. Hell, I remember having to rent the player at the same time as the movie. I love watching movies with my son, to the point where I'm pretty sure he's going to be messed up from the choices at some point.

Nothing scary though. Hell, he closed his eyes during the part of Ready Player One with The Shining and that was pretty tame.

It's on my to-watch list, but then so are about 200 other movies.
