I've heard that too

his tempo choices are so weird, sometimes they make sense and other times he's a bull in a china shop

I know there's been a lot of ragging on Matt for some of the songs being played fast in recent years, but I was listening to the last vault release (Seattle '93 I think?) a few weeks ago and definitely noticed some songs played way faster than the studio versions. I think this predates Matt.

Its pretty much always been like this. Theyve always been an adrenaline band. Admittedly so.

I kinda feel like they practice fast so they can squeeze more songs in/ or lately more call and response sections

RVM is one they always played too fast at times, but GTF, Corduroy, Even Flow etc. are not

Yeah, I feel like when I first started obsessively following set lists in 2000, the average show was 25 or 26 songs, with a few stretched to 27/28. From 2003 onward, seems most shows I've been to are at or past the 30 mark. Often well past 30. Song length factors in there on any given night, but I always thought it was a conscious decision to squeeze in more tunes.

They could slow down the songs and cut eds mumbling storytelling out. That would help.

Or start playing 4 hour shows like springsteen!

This is probably my favourite part of the song.

That and the "Superblood Wolfmoon..." and "la la la" parts.

The rest I'm not crazy about, but it's kind of growing on me. Ed doesn't sound as bad as I thought he did on my first couple listens.

I really liked the song from the get go. Last night I was driving out of my small town to do some astrophotography and cranked it up. Is it top notch Pearl Jam? No. Is it a very enjoyable listening experience? Oh yeah. 2 in, and I'm starting to forget Lightning Bolt ever happened.
