I'm curious. Having not heard much( or any of the new stuff) do you have any expectation or preconceived ideas on how they sound base on what has been discussed here?

In the category of one of the few semi-serious things I might post here, I would say this: for many of us in our 30s, there aren't many things left that we hold dear to us that we need in our teens/even early 20s. Things like rock bands, sports, cool cars, up to date clothing, and general pop culture have fallen by the wayside for wives/husbands, families, and careers. And while we might still like those former things to various degrees, there aren't many things most of us, be it by virtue of time, dollars, or other reasons, hold on to with the same degree of passion. Pearl Jam still does this for us for better or worse.stip wrote:I need something to fill the void caused by my 30somethingnessbroken iris wrote:stip wrote:someone really ought to put together a formal set of rules for this thing. I want to know why a bunch of 30-something dudes can't wait a few more weeks for an album from a band that is a decade past their prime.

You answered your own question right there.....For me personally Im 32, have a fiance and a infant son..My partying days are over aka i have no social life besides NFL on Sundays with friends and fishing...New PJ and new music in general are one of the few things that get me excited nowadays...i know its sad...lolbroken iris wrote:stip wrote:someone really ought to put together a formal set of rules for this thing. I probably wouldn't avoid it. Seems to me half the fun would be having expectations of how the songs sound either be met or end up completely off base. Truth be told I wish half of it never leaked. I think I know these song way too well already.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:somewhat yes, but ive tried to avoid anything that has been too descriptive. i think i will still be surprised by LTRP,SW and GetawayThejambi wrote:I'm curious. i look forward to skimming through the song threads once i do get to hear it, but i dont want to get expectations based off of other peoples opinions that could cause me to be disappointed, i like a lot of songs that others dont so i have no problem with that, but i dont want to build a song up too much in my mind that it cant live up to it.Thejambi wrote:I probably wouldn't avoid it. Re: No Leak Club
Having read what feels like every possible take on the songs that have leaked, I really don't have much of an idea of what to expect, beyond I'm mildly optimistic based on people who's opinions I respect saying they've been into the new stuff. But I'm not looking forward to any songs more than any others based on what I've read, with the possible exception of the title track and stip's assessment of it (but I heard that at Wrigley and thought there was some strong potential there, so it's not like the reviews/comments are the only things drawing me to it).Thejambi wrote:I'm curious. Re: No Leak Club
Once the calendar turns to October, it's full out PJ blackout mode for me, even if that means staying away from RM for the last 2 weeks. That might make things go a little quicker I'm hoping. Like when my kids finally manage to fall asleep on Christmas Eve!
I have a Flaming Lips/Tame Impala show this week to look forward to. Next week will feel like an eternity though. I need to start a new Game of Thrones book or something like that.
But I sure as hell am looking forward to posting my initial reactions here, along with reading other initial impressions from my fellow brave companions.
One more thing... The LB thread can suck a big fat one...

I haven't been back in there since the whole Ed handbanging gif fight.
I should've known better than to go back in there after avoiding it for like 500 pages worth of posts.
