I think it's safe to assume Olé won't be on the new album and, while I'd love to hear a fully-realised version of Of the Earth, it seems like a pretty remote chance at best.
What gives you this idea? Do you think Ole is b-side? I think it has fits the theme of the album.
It was released as a standalone song two years ago, they're not going to re-release it on the new record. It was a throwaway (a fun one, but a throwaway nonetheless.) No chance at all.

Olé shouldn't have ever been created.

I'd like Ole and MYM are the 1-2 intro combo, Future Days is probably 4 or 5, Lightning Bolt, being the title track will be 7 or 8 and then Of the Earth is near the end.
I'd say no chance of Ole being on the record - MYM is basically a superior Ole rewrite. Wouldn't mind OTE being on there, though they've said they've tried it in the studio before (both S/T and Backspacer sessions?) and haven't been able to get it right, so it could remain just a live thing. Best case is that we get OTE as a b-side and 11 other new tracks.

Good point. I guess a part of me wants them to be on the new album because I like them the best out of everything so far.

Ha - simultaneous triple rebuttal! The people have spoken.
(I like Ole too but would prefer it wasn't on the album)

Yes, you've all crushed my hopes that Ole will kick off the album.

When I heard MYM, read the album title and saw the cover art, I thought 'fuck yes'. Something a bit darker, deeper. Maybe even angrier.
But no. Lightning Bolt (the song) is a lyrically lame soft semi-flaccid ramble, and Future Days is just... Boring.
The rest had better be ballsy, seriously.

This is shaping up to be a good album.
I've started to be a little critical of backspacer but i still like it a lot, but i would say MYM is better then the songs like it on BS, future days is probably most like just breathe on BS and i don't think it is better yet but i can't fully judge based off last night, and im not sure what to compare lightning bolt to yet, but i like it a lot
Future Days is the weakest of the 3 for sure . I put LB closest to UK. I know it gets some love around here but I don't enjoy it at all.
Early on after backspacer came out it seemed like there was a lot of love for unthought known, but i wasn't into it at all, but it has grown on me in the last year or so, and if we are putting lightning bolt up against UK then i would say i like LB much more after a few listens then i did UK for a few years, but currently i like UK more

Does anyone get the feeling that, regardless of the album's quality, the reviews are gonna dip into negative territory? I feel like that's where the narrative is.

The new songs aren't terrible. My problem is that Eddie singing more contemporary / happier stuff, to me, seems awkward. I don't associate Ed with Happy or as a guy who sings about a girl being like a lightning bolt. I leave that shit for Bon Jovi. It all seems horribly forced.
I think it's because I associate his voice with the themes and tones of his past efforts. While I am glad my favorite band is still putting out albums and touring, I can't help feeling a huge disconnect with them. I'm not really buying what FD and LB are selling lyrically. I don't relate. That said, I do love Mind your manners. Here's to hoping there's at least some brooding tones on this record.

Is there anyone who's written the lyrics out for the the two new tunes? If so, is there a link? I can't make much out from Lightning Bolt's second verse onwards.
I get the feeling this album may be a concept album or rock opera. To me, thus far, I think there's a chance these tunes are connected. Can't be sure til' I read more lyrics.

Who the fuck are all these new posters? This isn't the pit, is it?
Anywho,....
I really enjoy Lightening Bolt, I appreciate Mind Your Manners, and I am very bored with whatever the fuck the name of the third song is. I see 0% chance of Ole being on the new album (thankfully), and 35% chance that Of The Earth is included (but hope it is). I'm more excited for the new material now than I was before the Wrigley show, so that's a plus.

I wish I was so happy with the new material. These 2 newer tracks make MYM so better but I can't say I'm happy with the last 5 tracks that have appeared.
Someone posted this I think in the Future Days thread, does anyone have any info on this? Looks to be called Better Days again.
