ive still only listened to each of them 1 time until i find out if they are on the new album or not, i really doubt they will be on it, but just in case i am trying to forget about them for a while

I've put Pearl Jam on a break. Been catching up on the catalogs of Wilco and Mark Lanagan.

I'm listening to them both a lot. CC more than let it ride. If LB has songs on it that I want to listen to as much as I want to listen to these then it'll be a major success for me.

I'm trying to limit the number of listens just in case they're on LB I want it to feel fresh when I get the entire album. Meanwhile, if you had to rank the recent (new-old) songs that we've got so far, what would you give them? As a baseline, I consider 5-star songs to be GTF, In My Tree, I Got Shit, Corduroy.

London Soundcheck song has some serious potential to be a 3.5-4 star song, but it's just too hard to tell.

Even without the piano, i'm finding the lyrics trite and cheesy. And the melody just plain "meh"

Who knows, maybe the music on the studio version will be so awesome i can look past that lol.

Hmmm maybe i should have MYM at 3 and LB at 2.5. I'm really too indescisive for these types of excersizes.

I think it conjures something for me. Yeah, it's cheesy and unremarkable but to me it creates a nice atmosphere. Maybe I don't need much from tracks like this. And I also think that the use of lyrics is more clever than we first gave it credit for at first, given the context. Only slightly more, mind. But enough to make me look again when we get the studio version. The context might improve it quite a lot, a little like a cheesy song as part of a darker film score can provide a nice amount of irony. Having said all this, I was hoping we'd get more irony from Backspacer if they wanted to go the cheesy route.
