I read "Invisible Republic" years ago, but I would probably get a lot more out of it now that the box set has come out -- the Basement Tapes material was admittedly hard for me to get into in bootleg form, but the sonic cleanup on the official release is stunning. I have been pretty hopelessly addicted to it.
I have not read his book on "LARS" -- I was always intimidated by a whole book devoted to one song. I really liked Christopher Ricks's "Visions of Sin" -- the worst of it is stuffy academic bullshit, but the good chapters are illuminating.
