So mike did an interview
http://t.co/3UewlZPrY7 where he states that the new one has 'punk and psychadelic' influences. These two things do not go together and I doubt this band have the magic to make it happen.
Sadly bummed out about this already.

He also said numerous things about how it hasn't all come together yet. Not sure which direction. he also said HE wrote the psychedelic song (or pink floydish) and punky numbers, and ed wrote some garage rockers and really beautiful pieces, and matt wrote an "ethereal/u2 like" composition.
lots of stuff. never know where it will all end up

Speaking of creed I know some people who like Altered Bridge. I don't like them and I think Myles Kennedy is as generic as it gets. Good but generic. I think my perception of them was a bit preconceived due to Creed.

do we have a list compiled anywhere of what these new songs are supposed to sound like. I'd like to be able to compare the final project to it.

Mid temp acoustic number with clean accents.
reaching for some complicated stuff
accents and solos
the kind of political song Ed would have written given the last few years.
almost U2 feel to it (the second one), and the first was a bit scruffier
One of the more clever songs they’ve written in a while.
a slow ‘pattern’ that sounds really nice.

not that either are accurate, but it's easy to picture "motorhead-like" and "punk and psychedelic" co-existing. Meld Vitalogy and Riot Act, or something along those lines.
