All right. Andor gives more weight to Rogue One, but the narrative shifts. Andor is the story of the early days of the Rebellion and, well, Andor but Rogue One moves the focus onto Jyn. It’s her story more than anyone else’s.
Andor is a fantastic piece of storytelling. A true gem in the universe that is Star Wars. While I’ve enjoyed a lot of what’s been offered since the Disney acquisition, nothing else comes close to this level of product. I know it’s been talked about in this thread, and I’m one of the fans that loves the lore of the Jedi/Sith and the Force and all that, but there has to be a way to merge this level of quality with the Obi-Wans or Mandalorians or Ahsokas. This is thought-provoking, grounded, human level storytelling and there should be no reason they can’t bring that into the fantastical worlds of laser swords and spaceships fighting. Whatever their reasons, at least we have this nugget, I guess.
I enjoyed season 2 more than 1, but it really is an overall narrative with Rogue One providing the ending. An impressive achievement. I’m left thinking about those that may still be around even in the dreadful Rey/Kylo years. Obviously, Cassian’s kid could be out there somewhere. Well, Bix too, I suppose. Dedra could still be around. Vel, Kleya, Wil…
Now I kinda want to watch Star Wars, but I think I’m done for the weekend. I need something to cleanse my palette.

I spend an absurd amount of time sad that this is over.

I'm finally rewatching Rogue One. It's such a great movie. And it is 100% Star Wars. It has those qualities that Andor doesn't. It's pretty stark actually.
And I'm sorry but the guy in Rogue One isn't the same guy from Andor. That's a bit of a bummer. Not a deal breaker. But it is a little jarring.
I mean Luna is doing the work but it's still off, unfortunately. But you know who does connect? Krennic. He's really improved buy Andor. Also, Saw.

Gareth really got a raw deal. R1 is maybe the best looking of all the SW movies. They should let him do another one. Let someone else write the script but let Gareth direct.

Just remember Gilroy came in to fix whatever Gareth had done wrong.

That's what I mean.
Gilroy gets all the credit and Edwards gets demonized. It sucks for him.

Gilroy did say he was persona non grata onset and a lot of animosity when he came into ‘fix’ rogue one. He they used the same crew to do Andor so it can’t have lasted that long. Edwards had gone to town and shot a million things but the story, if there was one to begin with, had been lost entirely. Gilroy had to try and scrape one together with what was there and some reshoots.
I hated rogue one first time I saw it and for long after and for those reasons. It felt jarring and cobbled together. But found a way into it via the characters, who are all so well written and performed and relatable no matter which we’re talking about.
I don’t with with durds on cassian though. I think what he’s just come through shapes directly who and how he is in R1. He’s expecting trouble on Jeddah and there is, but mostly he’s mission first, no feelings involved, do what you have to to get the job done amd for the rebellion.
I think they matched that up perfectly and if that isn’t the entire primary aim of the series what is?
Would love to see Edwards come back to direct but seem to remember there’s a lot of bad blood there and not a grudge he’s willing to drop. Until they get their cheque book out I guess.
They could continue at this level if they did a Mon mothma series, just continue her story running the rebellion organising its finances and controlling a spy network.
It could be done.

That’s probably my favourite line in the whole series.
