This integrity argument is baffling.

They've been playing arenas since 1992 and worked really hard to straddle the thin line of being an arena rock band with dignity.
They've taken bands on tour that never would've been given the chance otherwise, kept prices below market average for decades, willingly shed fans in the name of artistic integrity while maintaining arena status, put their money where their mouth is when it comes to carbon neutrality and charitable endeavours...On and on and on...

I'd say their credibility is beyond reproach

It's naive to think things weren't done like this in 1991 as well. You just didn't hear about it.

Reminds me of old curmudgeons who sit around and talk about how "x and y never happened in their day". Uh, yeah it did, we just didn't have social media and instant communication. I really think you're romanticizing the true nature of PJ's DIY culture, and this extends to the writing. As for 10c ticketing, do you think that a massive reduction in # of shows might have something to do with the evolution of their policies? Remember when they would do two 40-50 date runs (ie spring/summer)? That was fun and we all got great 10c tickets. It's never coming back, so I hope we all enjoyed it.

I respect your nostalgia for the way you think things might have been, but I'll gladly welcome Wottman's heavy hand if we get songs like DM versus the garbage in lightning bolt.

I’m really impressed with Ed’s vocals. He sounds really good. Ferocious, energized. The guitars tones are great and yes there is a hint of You Are but also Ghost.
I do wish Jeff could be more prominent in the mix.

85 pages for a song that’s been out for a week. Pretty sure it’s all been said already

The big C chord in the pre chorus is the pinnacle moment, the zenith if you will (for me).

As it rings and Ed hits "denounce/renounce and deploy" I get binaural feels mixed with the guitar tone and intonation from Rhinosuar. I discovered this during my run yesterday when that song came on.

Will be interesting to see how this track fits between the (supposedly) Petty influence Wreckage and Won't Tell, which I have a suspicion is track 4 from metal door sessions.

Yeah good post. I kinda feel SG circa King Animal but also a bit of Applebite in the tone guitars.

The particular type of Soundgarden-ness in this song is what will probably always keep it at just "pretty good" for me. I like, but never loved, Soundgarden, and the stuff I do love isn't this muscled-up (or muscled-up like Rhinosaur, as was just mentioned).

Fell on Black Days, The Day I Tried to Live, Blow Up the Outside World...those are songs I love.

same - i liked soundgarden and get the appeal but they were easily at the bottom of the seattle bands for me. I could put together one killer cd of my favorites but thats about it.

the SG elements are what interest me least about this song.
