I forgot that picture existed. I had endeavored to wipe all memory of ukulele songs marketing materials from my mind. Maybe if I hadn't I wouldn't have been as surprised by sirens.

you know, for some reason I keep trying to find reasons to convince myself why I don't like this song as much as I increasingly do. Like I'm reluctant to admit it. But not in a guilty pleasure kind of way. I keep getting dragged back to this song, and if you asked me why I don't know what I'd tell you

I've been reading stuff on the Pit for a while today. People are actually leaving the Ten Club and the board over this song.

Reasons to like: Ed sounds awesome (best he has in years?), stone's guitar parts, Mike's solo (on the video version more so), nice prominant bass (again on the video version)

Reasons to dislike: Ummm ... boom's keys maybe? Even that doesn't bother me.

I love this song. PJ needed a huge song like this (I mean in scope, arrangement, etc. not popularity). I can picture this getting played in the encores and staying around on subsequent tours. It's much more epic than other new songs which sometimes pop up there (ie. Life Wasted and Just Breathe)

To be fair, from what I've read it represents the final nail in the coffin of a lot of other stuff, rather than just *a song*, but still... they've not written a song with such an impact on both sides for... I don't even know.

Is Sirens to Pearl jam what Touch of Gray is to Greatful Dead?

Also, how badass does mike look playing the 12 string with the electric hanging off his back? Then passing off it for the solo?

F I love this song.

Wasn't Ten full of classic commercial rock athems? I am confused by the reaction to this song much more than the song.

Yes but they were full of electric guitar and anger / discontentment. This song is pretty much a song about contentment written by a very contented, rich, "grateful man".

If Alive wasn't on Ten lets say State Of Love was in its place, and Alive was the first song we heard on Lightning Bolt what would the reaction to that be.

Come on... the reaction would be the same as it was; "Alive" is a kickass rock song covered in a thick wall of guitar and an angry Ed.

Well he is not at peace that is for sure, and I would not wanted him being what he is not. He is still writing songs about his inner demons right.
