That's kind of what I'm thinking. It
sounds like those bands, but in a "showing them how it's done" kind of way.
At least that's what I'm telling myself at the moment.
I disagree with this sentiment...
....but if I didn't, I'd say...
...."showing" Chad Kroeger how to better do the thing he's trying to do is a lot like shitting in your kids pants to let him see how it's properly fucking done.
only instead of the kid's pants they shat in their own.
Still an example, but from a not so smart teacher

They say there are really only 7 narratives.
There are probably only 7 McParadigm posts.

I'm really enjoying reading the reactions to this song. I haven't heard a single second of it yet, but it's the intensity of the reactions (even if the majority of them are really negative) that seem to be putting a smile on my face...
I think I just realized, whether I end up liking this song or not, I'm pretty happy that I'm not reading a bunch of reactions like this:
"Yea ok, sounds like Pearl Jam"
"Yep, just another (fill in the blank)"
"It sits right next to (song a) and (song b) and (song c) in the PJ catalog"
"Kinda boring. I really have no reaction either way."
I love divisive! Divisive is good... me hopes so.

So for all that have listened to it, where could this be played on the radio? There is very little rock radio anymore and pop radio (the kind that used to play Nickelback and Daughtry and whatnot) only plays synthetic dance style music or a Lumineers or Mumford song squeaks through once in awhile, but that's about it. There is virtually no place for a rock ballad on pop radio anymore, I wonder if they knew that or think it will get on somewhere else.....

Let's see how it does.
Just Breathe didn't seem to have a spot either, as far as I remember

You haven't heard the rest of the album yet.

I thought that about Getaway. Not Sirens.

I agree. It's like Ed saw these guys getting all the rock-radio attention and wanted a piece of the action.

I think this could be a big song for them, the country-ish vibe gives it cross-over appeal, and I can definitely hear it being used on tv.

I'll admit I don't know my 80's music very well beyond a few bands (Sonic Youth, The Cure, The Smith, Crowded House, and maybe just a few others)

I can't stop smiling at how absurd and wonderful this song is.
