At work we listen to two radio stations. Veronica is a 'eighties and nineties' station that also plays rock from earlier and later. They only play 'hits' so I don't think it will appear there at first. The other station is Q Music. They play top 40 songs but today I really enjoyed their playlist. Some of today's hits suddenly have some content again, or are just musically interesting enough to even sing along. I used to be really bothered by most music they played, so something has changed. I can even imagine them playing Sirens.

I'm sorry, but anyone claiming Wishlist's lyrics are top-notch in the PJ catalog needs their head examined. Lyrically, it's the work of 3rd grader writing Santa. There's plenty of great songs (lyrically) to choose from, that's not one of em'.
It depends on what you value. Beatles and Ramones wrote 'simple' songs, yet I would not trade them for any prog rock band with mathematically sourced and microproduced 'works of art' in the world. What I like about the Wishlist lyrics is that they go against the rule of 'not summing up things' to an extend that it almost starts to bug people. And there is a lot of detail in it, or images.

I value there being something good about the lyrics. That's kinda crazy.
I wouldn't say Wishlist's lyrics are the band's worst, probably because, once again, the lyrics are kinda showcasing that they could write a song about anything (even a random list) and it's OK in doing "that". But, there's not a chance in the world you won't receive an out-loud laugh from me if any fanboi says Wishlist is one of the band's best lyrics. That's a retarded, backwards statement. Ed even admits to not trying hard lyrically and lightening up with that song.
Lines like "I wish I was a nuetron bomb, for once I could go off" or "I wish I was an alien at home behind the sun" are without a doubt the band's most profound.
Sorry, not buying into the "if it's a different opinion" let's like it mantra. Wishlist's lyrics are without any doubt in the lower bin of the band's catalog.
