Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. The Fighter. Wife has owned it on DVD for a long time but she never watched it. I felt like watching it again. Gonna watch it together now, if only for Bales performance.

Nice. I'd love this movie if it weren't for marky mark... As far as I'm concerned he was great in boogie nights but pretty much sucks in everything else

Interesting. I have virtually the exact opposite feeling.

Goddamn love The Fighter, too.

Odd comp. I haven't seen the former but I can't imagine their goals are at all common.

mark was bad in the fighter. He doesn't show any emotional depth. Imagine a good actor in this role. We decided not to finish it and watch the wrestler instead, which was so good in every way. I teared up a couple of times. It's like, isn't this how sacrifice to the public works? It's better to sacrifice yourself for an individual who loves you than a fan base.
