Well, Pearl Jam has said nothing about it...
it's gonna be funny when we all realize they were being completely serious all along and not trying to be cheesy.
I realized this on my second listen. It's what made me pay closer attention.
They've never *tried* to be cheesy but they're all cheesy and cheesy people don't realise they're cheesy.
Ed was hanging out with One Direction lately, maybe he was inspired by them. Or his daughters said can you write a song like they do?

That would even be cute if it was true but it won't be.

Well, that's what I'm going with. I find it makes my mind at ease with this song.

By the way that Frames song is gorgeous, but less cheesy than this.

Exactly my point.
They're old enough he he he
Yeah he's lifted the melody for the hook bit. Which is great.
And the band version isn't cheesy. The glen solo one can be sometimes

He's also kicking ass on most of the melodies.

I'm pretty much in love with this song.
I hope the video doesn't ruin it.
It's 1am and I have a doctor's appointment at 9. Night night, folks.

So I'm incredibly late to the game, but finally heard Sirens just now. I can def see why there's been such a diverse reaction. It certainly comes off cheesy (and yeah the solo doesn't help), but I also have to agree that Eddie sounds pretty damn good. I mean goddamn that is one hell of a vocal on this song, sounds like Eddie's pipes from the 90s, really. The music is not doing much for me now, I don't hear GnR or Bon Jovi so much but I definitely understand some of the top 40-ish comparisons. Again only one listen in, perhaps it grows a bit. Not my fave so far but this is certainly not a deal breaker by any means in regard to my hopes for the album in its entirety. Thanks to those who wrote up the lyrics--I think this song is very strong (sad, too) lyrically, and must reiterate Eddie really saves it here. Going to listen again...

I'm guessing that Sirens won't be the LB song that Willie Nelson covers

Just wish there were some verses after the solo. Feels like it ends almost abruptly.

Yeah, kind of got that vibe too. I really need to hear it in the context of the album though.
