I've decided not to listen to this again until it officially drops. But I did listen to it three times all the way through. Dance is still my favorite track and Never Destination is my least. Buckle Up is second to last. I really don't like it. I worry that the former will age better than the latter, too.

But we'll see/hear what we see/hear in a week!

Gun to head, I'd say Quick Escape. But Comes Then Goes is so fucking great. I feel like it has the potential to end up my favorite track on the album eventually.

How I currently feel about the album, and the order I think I'd prefer it tracked.

1. Who Ever Said - Good enough opener. 2.89.
2. Quick Escape - Great rock song. Highlight. Should have been THE single. 4.
3. Seven O'Clock - Good change of pace album track, highlight. The outro could use improvement. 3.2.
4. Alright - Good transition, album track. 2.95.
5. Buckle Up - Second best song on the album. Would love it if not for Matt's inappropriate Speed of Sound busy drumming. 3.5.
6. Take the Long Way - I don't like hearing Ed sing like this, but it's good enough I guess. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be in the beginning. This is a better version of this song they've done many times. 2.8.
7. Comes Then Goes - I agree with Strat. Could use a slide guitar or something. Decent enough end of album/wind down track. 3.2.
8. River Cross - Good enough closer. 3.


2. Superblood Wolfmoon - PRETEND NEVER EXISTED. 1.4.
3. Dance of the Clairvoyants - DELETE. 2.3 until the end, which is cool. Doesn't save the song though.
11. Retrograde - DELETE. Don't want to listen again to rate.
7. Never Destination - Mostly irritating. Could like this with a different singer. Delete. 1.8.

Tree, i sincerely believe the reason for your lack of  fanaticism could be due to having 2 left feet on the dance floor. Can you try doing the worm to DOTC or the cabbage patch to superblood wolfmoon? Can you try doing the jaywalk or harlem shake to some of your buddy eddie's spritzy punk ones?

First Attempt at ranking Gigaton. This is pretty fluid at this point. The only song I don’t really care for at this point is Buckle Up. Everything else is either great, or good enough to be really enjoyable.

First proper listen...with an edible and a beer. It might be those two talking, but I already like it a lot more than the last 2. A good shelter-in-place piece.

I often times forget that Dance of the Clairvoyants is on this album. Then i remember. And then i get even giddier at how good the album is.

They put the two best songs right beside each other.
The brave innovative new pearl jam right next to a song brutally pushing their best early influences and their own early sound. Meaning DOTC and quick escape

These boys are getting cocky in their old age but it works.

I’m not bored of saying it but if you told me quick escape was an old demo they found from 90 and just re recorded it I would believe you.

It’s got that big soaring clashing thing like breath goin on

Im listening to it on my home stereo system and its obvious the sound isn't as dynamic. It tops out. It seems somewhat distorted. Ever so slightly.

Have we attempted to retrack this? Great album but I think the sequencing could have been better. Thoughts? Going to think about this and give it a go.

I think the two main issues with the sequencing are Never Destination and Take The Long Way being back to back and the 4 "slow songs" to end the album. I tried moving Take The Long Way between Comes Then Goes and Retrograde and it works quite well
