Is there any truth to this business of Jaime being next in line to the Iron Throne if Tommen dies? Apparently, he is descendent of a Baratheon several generations ago. Seems, by that logic, that Kevan Lannister would be in line before Jaime though.

Starting the reread of Clash of Kings. Only took me four months to get through Game of Thrones.

technically, Robert's claim was "legitimized" or rather the excuse used was his Targaryean grandmother, so technically the Iron throne is still part of the Targ line. The ousted dynasty was the line of the Mad King Aerys Targaryean. If they wanted to get technical, they'd have to research a legitimate Targ line that survived. House Baratheon was started by Aegon Targaryean's bastard half brother anyway.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I think Pycelle had a white raven with him when he told the small council of summer's end in Season... 2, I think? And there's one flying towards Winterfell in the episode 10 preview.

Yep. The season 2 one was the announcement for Autumn and the one shown in the preview is the winter announcement.

Ah, yes--I forgot about the "autumn" raven. I was wondering because of the shot in the trailer.

chud I think you may have gotten your wish to see Jaime turn away from Cersei; it just happened later.

Although I'm sure there will be some surprising twists and turns, some nice character development, some stunning set-pieces, and some fine acting, I wonder if the show is going to run into an inevitability problem when next season begins. At this point, it looks like Dany basically wins: she's got the dragons, the ships, and two of the largest houses in Westeros behind her. Probably the best thing they could do to add dramatic tension is to kill a dragon: if Dany's fleet bumps into Euron's fleet and wins but, let's say, the green-ish dragon dies, it casts some doubt on her invincibility (similar to what the dragon horn will probably bring up in the books).

Just some scattered thoughts; it's a lot to process. But I think it's telling that most people were able to guess what would happen this episode, unlike most finales.
