i don't think anyone feels "entitled" to a leak. people just know it's inevitable and are excited to hear the album. just calm down.

Bullshit. Go into threads about television shows that don't air in their area. People feel entitled to content on their own terms and get petulant when they dont get it.

I don't feel entitled to content on my own terms but I certainly want it, I get that.
If I can't buy an album in FLAC, I'll probably not buy it at all these days.

In any case, the band entirely avoid leaking if they so wish by putting the album directly up for download without fanfare as soon as it's ready (see Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine, etc.)
By going through the whole promotional circus, the album goes through many hands and it's inevitably going to leak. The band know it but they think the trade-off is worth it, so I presume they're okay with it (or at least resigned to it).

Oh, some people are undoubtedly entitled jerks, but that doesn't mean
everyone who'll listen to a leak is an entitled jerk.

No, but those that actively seek it out, are in large part. People engaged in a community are likely to have absolutely no problem getting ahold of a leak once it occurs, so the entitlement attitude isnt there. Ive heard all the release songs, and they were sent to me when I just said "man, are the new pj songs really that bad."

So is it better to madly and selfishly search for this thing, or to sit back and rely on others who did? Which is more morally acceptable?

I guess listening to a leak that is already out there is slightly more acceptable then searching it out and potentially causing the wide spread leak. But most everyone who is searching out or hoping to hear PJs new album if it leaks has already bought it or will buy it, so i don't think it is terrible either way

I'm not sure morality plays into it one way or the other.

The morality of the whole issue never bothered/concerned me. It's the entitlement. THE ENTITLEMENT MAN.

Maybe it's different for people in other countries -- hell, it's probably different for anyone outside of New York City, but entitlement is a poison here. Entitlement is out of control. Nobody owes anybody anything. You aren't born with the keys. And too many people act like that's just absurd. It gets to me like nothing else.

So, since this thing comes out on the 11th in Australia... IF 10C puts the digital files in the accounts of all the folks who pre-ordered on the 11th... should I listen to them? It wouldn't be a leak. But also the whole point of the NLC (for me) is to have the physical album in hand. What to do... what to do...
