There’s a guy named Brett Newski playing across the channel from my place tonight. I guess he’s sort of a pro based on some googling. It definitely sounds better than the other bands they’ve had in the past.

My 93 year old grandma who lives in an assisted living place had a wild hair to cook some old recipes today, so my dad was going to pick her up and bring her to his house where I would meet them and help cook.

Well, now he's over at her place and I'm here at his place but she's not feeling up for the drive across town, so I find myself in my parents' kitchen in front of three different pots with three different bags labeled with ingredients.

Fun morning of cooking ahead. I'll portion and deliver these soups to her when I'm done I guess.

My mom had hip replacement surgery last week. Had some complications with blood loss and really low blood pressure, but had been doing better the last few days. Then she fell last night and dislocated her hip and cracked her femur. After a long night of back and forths trying to get into an ER they finally just got her in a room.

Thanks guys

Surgery is finished and it’s not a good prognosis for a positive recovery. They had to go in through the back of her leg which is much more invasive. Had to put three cables in around the femur. Looking at very long recovery, weaker hip, and prone to future fractures if not very careful.

Sorry to hear that. I'm glad the surgery was successful. How long of a stay in hospital is she looking at?

Sounds like three or so days here, but then straight to rehab. She’s had rheumatoid arthritis most of her life so it’s tough to see another thing limit her long term.
