Watt also took a writing credit on all of Earthling, and a cursory look at wiki shows that he takes co-writing credits with every act he works with. He started in pop, and producers taking a co-writing credit is a lot more commonplace in that genre.

Ironically, the only time that didn't seem to happen (for the most part) was the Stones.

Those are also my favorite types of Soundgarden songs but I kind of equally love ‘muscled up’ SG because it doesn’t sound as bright or ‘sharp’ around the edges as Dark Matter. Rhinosaur fits that description for me, and Never the Machine Forever is probably my 2nd favorite song after Pretty Noose on my favorite SG album. It’s punk SG that is my least favorite type of SG

same - i liked soundgarden and get the appeal but they were easily at the bottom of the seattle bands for me. I could put together one killer cd of my favorites but thats about it.

the SG elements are what interest me least about this song.

Pff SG might be the best of all of them

Mike’s solo intro wail / scream sound is killer and a potential watch item for lasting greatness

Cons
The Bridge is crap and a momentum-killer and kind of typifies what is wrong with modern PJ. But it is short and then we move back on to business

Confession: it took me a while to love that one. I do have it as a 5 now because it meets my criteria of "PJ at their absolute best" but that is probably partially colored by hearing it live a number of times and absolutely loving the crap out of it that way.

The downfall of this song is going to be how too fast the play it live.

It won’t be Lukin fast but it might be even flow or given to fly too fast.
