Ed should just go the hip-hop route and write songs about how it's great to have bitches and be rich and all that stuff

Do you think you've gone the right route, Heathen? Posting on PJ message boards when you think they suck?

I wasn't agreeing, just saying "Understood." I'm just tired of fighting it out. There are good reasons to think they suck by now. There are also good reasons to think they don't, but it all has to do with taste.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:harmless wrote:Well, sure.Heathen wrote:They suck nowharmless wrote:Do you think you've gone the right route, Heathen? Re: New Song (9.19.13): Sirens
I dont think its a cash grab so much as a fan grab lol. And I understand why, if this starts getting as much as a reaction as black or whatever does during a show, its gonna feel pretty great for the band. What band doesnt want a crowd to be as excited for thier new music as they are for the old stuff? And I dont really begrudge the band for wanting that, I just wish it wasnt this song or this kinda song.stip wrote:well you're right in that I certainly don't doubt its authenticity. I don't think this sounds like a cash grab.
And maybe if im honest I wish they were all super kewl and didnt give two fucks about the crowd, but thats unrealistic. It was easier to talk about shunning the crowd or challenging the audience when no matter what you did the crowd was gonna be full of people in thier 20s or thereabouts losing thier shit, crowd surfing, itching to get a scrap of eds tshirt.
But shit write some weird shit and just dont play it live in an arena or something guys, jeez.

A daughter leaving home to marry (or whatever reason) is just as dramatic as a wife leaving. Yeah, that'd be a bit weird if so. Probably not, then.
Do you have daughters? One of your biggest worries if you die is shit she's gonna find a man to fill the void? Or to keep them safe cause they can't fend for themselves? And what kind of boyfriend is this that he's filling the position of both boyfriend and father? I'll tell you what, a creepy one.
Not to mention I think his kids are well kids, as in fairly young.
The oooonly way that line could make sense in context with his kids was if it was about him being worried about his wife leaving him marrying another dude and that guy becoming a father to his kids or something. But that would be weirdly possessive and a strange way to word it also. Either that or ed is a creepy asshole.

no there's not. There's good reasons to have lost interest, perhaps. Can't argue that. But they're still a very talented band doing what they choose to do quite well.harmless wrote:I wasn't agreeing, just saying "Understood." I'm just tired of fighting it out. As far as I'm concerned "suck" is never more than a shortcut for "I don't like", just like "great" is shortcut for "I like".stip wrote:no there's not. That's what I meant. People are jumping off the moving train for good reason, and I don't take that away from them. It would just be nice to be left alone to consider the new material with others who are thinking it through.stip wrote:no there's not. There's good reasons to have lost interest, perhaps. I like hearing from people who aren't into something. I like the perspective and the way it challenges me (not implying that you don't, Harmless). But it's true that this isn't the same thing as just posting 'this sucks' ad nauseam.
