Does anyone here buy the claim that requiring photo ID is “voter suppression”?

Don’t get me wrong, I love the convenience of voting by mail, but if I had to walk or drive my ass to the polling station and show my ID, that’s what I would do.

I have waited in many a very long line to renew mine just like everyone else.

Ok so put at least X polling places per zip code. Or X per every XX people within a X mile radius.

But you can't talk about ID requirements as if they're a value-neutral policy without taking into consideration the underlying infrastructure. Or rather--sure, it's not the voter ID requirement that's the problem, it's the time and money associated with getting an ID, making sure it's up-to-date, and then supplying it in person on election day. But then the requirement becomes the node at which this unequally distributed burden is felt.
