Lighting, make-up, acting styles, there are a ton of factors that make 90s tv look the way it looks. And I don't want it to look "enhanced." There's a charm to the way those shows looked, to me. To some I'm sure a 4K UHD restoration/presentation is great and awesome, and I'm sure to many of those people I sound like an old man yelling at clouds. I get it. Maybe I am. It's just not something I want or need or feel like I can appreciate.LoathedVermin72 wrote:I need closure on this JoeyLoathedVermin72 wrote:Wait, why?epilogue wrote:I'm meant having to watch ANY 90s sitcom in 4k UHD.

Now that you've provided closure on the sitcom thing, I'm going to need closure on this, because you gotta be joking!epilogue wrote:Seth's Trump impression is the funniest/best one out there.

What do you think of Colbert’s impression?epilogue wrote:I am not!Farmer John wrote:Now that you've provided closure on the sitcom thing, I'm going to need closure on this, because you gotta be joking!epilogue wrote:Seth's Trump impression is the funniest/best one out there.
Now, don't hear something I didn't say. I did not say his was the most authentic or accurate sounding. Seth nails the esthetic. He understands the vibes of the thing. His timing and emphasis is hilarious. It's perfect caricature/satire. Like Carlin so perfectly observed, anything can be funny, it all depends on the exaggeration. Seth's exaggeration slays me!

Hard to argue with that. Maybe I can be swayed.
It's definitely prevalent, enough so that it actually affects sales, which in turns affect which titles get 4K disc releases and which don't. Which is a bummer. For example, horror and action titles are far more likely to get physical 4K releases than comedies or romances. Often even when the comedy/romance movie made more at the box office than the action/horror movie did. I'm sure it's just because the one type sells better than the the other on disc, but I wish that weren't the case.epilogue wrote:I certainly don't believe only certain genres need good visual quality.
Many here are far more vested in film culture and conversation so I won't be surprised to hear that there is a contingency that holds such a belief, but that's not something I've ever considered, let alone heard until right now.
