In one week’s he’s called himself the chosen one, tried to buy Greenland, ordered our Great American Companies (trademark) to look for alternatives to China, tried to give himself a Medal of Honor, and scolded Jewish voters for not having sufficient dual loyalty.

At this point, why even have a 25th amendment?

Oh and he called the Fed an enemy of the United States.

The ironic part of all this is Trump has leaned on Powell so heavily that it's impossible for the Fed to cut rates now without it seeming like they were bullied into it by Trump, which may have the effect of making them less likely to cut rates, even if there ends up being a point where that's what they should do.

This isn't the thread for it, but I'm becoming more open to the idea that the Fed might actually be rather insignificant after all (at least when it comes to "setting" interest rates) and doesn't so much set interest rates as institute policies that follow what's already happening to interest rates. For instance, when the Fed cut interest rates 25 basis points a couple of weeks ago that rate cut was already "built in" to markets, meaning that mortgage rates, etc., were already falling prior to the Fed's announcement.

Is buying Greenland that crazy considering we bought about half our country? Trump's folly could be the next Seward's Folly. Russia is just gonna take it in ww3 anyway.

I don't think the idea of buying Greenland is the problem, it's more that Trump thinks he can be Michael Corleone and treat Denmark like they're Moe Green.

Though nothing fits the going Conservative model for money in politics more than proposing that citizens of a voting public are chattel to be traded and purchased by the real power brokers.

Greenland and reality are very similar in that respect: cold and hard.

I'm not sure he can just buy Greenland, even in Denmark was down. I think there's a provision in their constitution that would require a referendum.
