Well, pretty much. What else were you thinking mattered? Nothing outside of your own opinion, surely?

In reality, it's our opinions that don't matter a bit

Finally heard the song...wasn't what I was expecting. It didn't seem so much power ballad as an overblown version of the kind of soft-country pop that Ryan Adams does pretty often. It also kind of reminded me of R.E.M.'s Around the Sun record; not so much in the instrumentation, but it's like they're taking these really hackneyed songwriting and instrumentation ideas and digging to find a good song in them.

On the first few times, I liked the song, but it's certainly a confusing listen.

Looks like too much cheese can cause paranoia.

There is absolutely no amount of cheese in Sirens greater than the cheese spewed by BoB's keyboard on Future Days at Wrigley.

I love how the keyboard is totally wrong on the last bar.

Was that trying to be a compliment?

I hope we get a vignette of BO'B playing the keyboard part in this on a casio while being chased down the traintracks.

Yeah, I tried. Basically I feel Sirens is far more interesting than Future Days, for lack of a better word. That, and I still can't stand the version of FD at Wrigley.

It's horrible. I think there's a nice song underneath and the studio version will hopefully show it off, but playing it live at Wrigley with BO'B was one of the worst decisions this band has ever made. Except for maybe re-hiring BO'B in the first place.

 I'm holding out hope for the album version. Trying to remain somewhat optimistic about SBM, too, even though it's inclusion still mystifies me.

I love folky stuff and I love the song, so I have some hope -- even if it's sanitised folk like Mumford.
