You won’t find any examples of it in this thread. Mickey can probably PM you some links.

Originally used to describe pornographic material fetishizing death or mortal danger, usually by execution. More often used to refer to any incident where a person derives excitement or joy from another person’s death or risk of death when including bodily harm.

I genuinely don’t know what this is meant to convey

It's another excellent gotcha moment--saying "all cops are bastards" is exactly the same as posting pictures of a man being shot as part of a meme. He's really got us there.

Imagine the very normal response this thread would have if I posted meme'd pictures of a dead cop on the ground, or some footage of a dead cop with the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme playing over it.

I'm imagining the responses if Kyle would have been burned alive by the Molotov, beaten to death by the fake skateboarder, or shot to death by the fake medic, and they're truly distasteful. Shame on you.

Significant amounts of content in the "Cops are the worst" thread is on par with this. Not those shooting memes, those are vile and should have beed deleted or turned links by the mods hours ago. It's one thing to post news-worthy content that may be graphic or offensive, it's entirely another to trivialize killing.

Hmm except a cop was already shot and killed at a BLM protest this year and certainly right-wing protestors and neutral observers have been attacked and/or suffered violence at various points throughout this summer and yet no one here posted pictures of them, much less the moment of their death and/or dead bodies, as memes. Other than that, great point!

What if ... now, what if ... they just didn't shoot him and arrested him later. Was he spraying bullets? Running away with stolen property? Kidnapping someone?

I mean, we're back to how do these things start?

Police come out to tell a guy to leave his ex-wife's house b/c he's not supposed to be there.

[5 minutes]

Police are mowing down a man in the street.

I'm not saying every situation can be de-escalated by police, but their record with black suspects is particularly shitty.

Eric Garner sold loose cigarettes, so he was choked to death.
George Floyd used a counterfiet bill, so he was choked to death.
Dajerria Bector was at a loud pool party, so she was slammed on the ground.
Breonna Davis once dated a drug dealer, so she was gunned down in her own bed.
Philandro Castile was pulled over for a routine traffic stop, so he was shot in front of his girlfriend and kid.

No. Fucking NO!

Fuck this, Jacob Blake had a knife bullshit. Maybe he did. Maybe he even tried to fight them.
The police were called to deal with trespassing and paralyzed a man with seven gunshots in front of his kids to KEEP him from leaving. Why the fuck do you think people want the cops to be replaced with social workers?
Let's try the "reimagined policing" model in a major American city. Violent crime will skyrocket and you'll have a bunch of dead social workers, but hopefully we'll finally be able to put that stupid concept to bed.
Yes, addressing non-violent criminals with something other than a gun will surely escalate into murder over and over again.
