I liked it a lot. Looks stunning really. Very cool framing too. Boyle hasnt lost his touch.
Spoiler: show
i was very pleased with the twist of Fiennes being actually a doctor and being super sane and sensitive.
Spoiler: show
it made me think about how cool, and how relatively unusual it is, to have a *positive* / life-affirming twist in a drama

El Llanto (The Wailing).

Very good, well made, perfect score and framing. Great casting too. Its a spanish-argentinian movie shot mostly in La Plata, with a very cool and intriguing premise. Kind of a mix between It Follows and some J horror movie.

A nice surprise.

Heart Eyes.

Very good slasher!! super fun and gory. Also looks gorgeous and the cast was good. Josh Ruben is a very smart and interesting director.

just finished Heart Eyes and I couldn't be more surprised by how much I enjoyed it; I laughed a lot, it was shot beautifully, it was smartly written and super sweet

it's once in a blue moon that a comedy horror comes along that I like this much, it gave me the same feels as the best bits of Buffy, Dawson's Creek and Scream

yeah, agreed completely. The director has two other very interesting movies too, the previous one is similar to this one in terms of the blend between horror and humor.

Ah I didn’t realize the guy who did Heart Eyes also did Werewolves Within, I’ll have to actually get around to watching it now.

funny thing is I didn't like Werewolves Within at all, just wasn't funny to me; but Heart Eyes is excellent

finally watched "Dangerous Animals"; I wish the CGI had been a tad bit better but apart from that, this was a really fun little homage to mid 2000's "vacation" horror, which was funny (posh English gap yah character made me LOL) and smartly written where it counted, with not a complete disregard for real shark behaviour; the Aussies have got it, this would be a fun double-feature with croc horror "Rogue"

"Threads" (1984) - originally a BBC TV movie, this imagines a new family experiencing a Nuclear attack in Northern England, and its fallout; I'd heard it was harrowingly bleak and depressing, and it is, so that's why I've taken so long to try it, but I found it to be excellently made for its time and budget, with one of the most shocking foreshadow, bait and switches I've ever seen, truly

i did a rewatch of Barbarian, in preparation for Weapons.

Movie is still strong, maybe it fell a bit from my consideration, but i really liked everything until kinda the end. Justin Long is still delightful.

i kinda love this airbnb subgenre!! The Rental - Barbarian is a great 1-2 combo for never ever renting one again.
